It is with great sadness that the family of the late Winnifred E. Pynn, age 87, of Springdale, NL announces her passing at the Green Bay Health Care Centre, on December 31, 2014. Winnifred Evelyn was born in Plymouth, England to Arthur and Mabel McConnell, on May 27, 1927. From there she met and married Donald Walter Pynn who was in the Navy. She left Liverpool, England in 1946 and settled in Silverdale, NL. Winnifred spent her days raising and caring for her young family. She was a wonderful, caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Winnifred was a faithful member of The Salvation Army Springdale Corps. She enjoyed her time and involvement as a member of the Songsters, Home League, Community Cares Ministries and a Sunday School teacher. Winnifred was also a Girl Guide Commissioner and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
In later years Winnifred enjoyed reading novels, knitting, needle work and reading her bible. She always had a kind listening ear to whomever she encountered. There were many cups of tea and hugs for whoever visited her.
Predeceased by husband Donald Pynn; parents Arthur and Mabel McConnell. She leaves to mourn her daughter IrisBennett; sonsBrian (Carol) Pynn, Chris Pynn and Terry Pynn; grandchildren Denise Pynn, Natasha (Dion) Fudge, Tina (Rodney) Holmes, Tony (Brenda) Bennett, David (Melissa) Bennett, Michael (Tara) Bennett, Pamela Bennett, Stephen Pynn, Andrew Pynn, Angela Pynn, Nickie Pynn and Charlene Pynn; great-grandchildren Kyle Stevens, Madison Stevens, Natalie Fudge, Ryan Fudge, Marcus Hicks, Sarah Holmes, Sierah Bennett, Seryn Bennett, Adrianna Bennett, Elle Bennett, Chance Payne and Addisyn Bennett . Also leaving to mourn, trusted and long-term companion Sandra Downey and Pat Boyd who supported her during this past year. As well as many other family members, in-laws and friends.
The Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving was held from The Salvation Army, Springdale, NL on Saturday, January 03, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Majors Collin and Jackie Abbott officiating. Interment was at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Springdale, NL. The pallbearers were son Terry Pynn; granddaughter Angela Pynn; grandsons Michael Bennett, David Bennett, Andrew Pynn and Stephen Pynn. Arrangements were entrusted to Jonathan Noel, Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
The family of the late Winnifred Pynn wishes to thank all who provided care, support and love to such a giving woman. Appreciation and thanks is also extended to Dr. Hicks and the staff of Green Bay Health Care Centre for the care, compassion and love.
