It is with sadness that the family of Winnifred Patricia (nee Bright) announces her passing -on Thursday, January 12, 2023, in her 90 ^th year.  Beloved wife for 69 years of Albert Higdon.  Dearest mother of Melvin (Glenda), Paul (Josie), Derrick (Pilar), Barry and the late Jeannie (Bob).  Dearest grandmother to 10 grandchildren; Philip, Noel, Dawn, Wade, Paula, Eldon, Leanna, Benjamin and the late Jonathan and Joshua; and 11 great-grandchildren. Much loved sister of Doris Smith (the late Reg), Jim Bright (the late Suzie), Marie Charter (the late Steve), Jean Pretty, Cecil Bright (the late Maise), Margaret Hoben (the late Wallace) and the late Melvin Bright (Iris) and David Bright.  Daughter of the late George and Emma Bright.

Winnie was born March 8th, 1933 in Victoria.  After graduating teacher's college, Winnie became a teacher, a career she was truly passionate about.  While teaching in New Harbour, Winnie met her beloved Albert.  After getting married on July 10 ^th , 1955, they made the move to Ontario where they worked tirelessly to provide for and raise their 5 children.  In 1993, Winnie and Albert retired and moved to Roberts Arm where they met lifelong friends and gained new family.

Winnie's faith was strong and unwavering.  She taught Sunday School, held Friday night bible studies for the young kids in the neighborhood, would often go on the street cars to hand out tracts and would witness where ever the opportunity presented itself.  Winnie was always singing hymns and quoting bible scripture and did so until she went home to be with the Lord.

Winnie will be fondly remembered and missed by family and friends.  A heartfelt and special thank you to Bob and Kathleen Fifield and their wonderful family Kayla (Travis), Laura (Jeff), Tim (Yolanda), Dennis (Michelle) and Grandchildren for their love, care and support over the years and to the staff at Valley Vista for your care and kindness.

The Celebration of Life service was held from Word of life Tabernacle on January 17, 2023 at 1 pm with Pastor Craig Gaulton officiating. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Son Derrick Higdon; Granddaughter Paula Higdon; Friends Dominic Winsor, Corvin Winsor, Kayla Short, Laura Tizzard. Honorary Pallbearer was Daughter-in-law Josie Higdon.
