Willie, or Bill, as he was known to his friends, moved up from Brighton to Robert's Arm as a teenager. It wasn't long before he started dating Betty Anthony and was married on September 3, 1965. They initially settled in Robert's Arm and Bill started working in the lumber woods and eventually Gull Bridge Mines. They had 5 children while living in Robert's Arm, before moving back to his birthplace of Brighton. Eventually they moved on to Buchans where he was employed at ASARCO mines. While living in Buchans, the 6th and final child arrived before moving back to Robert's Arm with their family complete.
Willie had a great love for music and was a good musician and singer. He spent many hours playing guitar and singing old gospel songs with Betty accompanying him on harmony. They would sometimes sing at the local church together. His final years while living at Hollett's Retirement Centre saw him playing his dobro and steel guitar for many events entertaining the residents. He would sometimes go on the road to other retirement homes to play.
Willie was a lover of animals and owned many dogs and cats over his lifetime. This love of animals and music was passed on to all his children and grandchildren with dogs, cats, guitars, pianos, drums etc in almost all their homes!
