It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Arthur "Wayne" Saunders of Springdale, NL, age 68, announces his Promotion to Glory on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in Springdale, NL.

Wayne was born in Springdale on September 21, 1950. He was the fifth child to Arthur and Mary Saunders. His childhood, teenage and adult years were spent in Springdale. As time passed he met and fell in love and married the love of his life Nina Andrews. Together they raised two children Tammy and Robert who were their pride and joy. Later their family extended when Tammy married Terry Wiseman and Robert Krista-Gayle Boyd. The family continued to grow when they were blessed with four grandchildren Victoria, Cameron, Abigail and Riley.

Being the family man he was he spent much time making memories with his grandchildren. Wayne treasured them all and he was the proudest pop. He was always excited to share news about a swim meet, hockey game or figure skating competition that he experienced with his grandchildren. Whenever possible, he was there to support and spend time with his grandkids whom he loved and adored.

Besides being a family man he was committed to his work, community and church. He was an active member of the Salvation Army church playing in the band, Men's Fellowship president, treasurer and a scout leader.

Wayne will be missed greatly in the town of Springdale, in the Salvation Army church but most of all he will be missed by his family whom he loved and adored throughout his whole life.

He is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Mary Saunders; brothers Robert Saunders, Paul Saunders; sister Jean Saunders; sister-in-law Phyllis Saunders; great-niece Chelsey Thomas.

Wayne leaves to remember the wonderful life that he lived, his wife of 46 years Nina Saunders; daughter Tammy (Terry) Wiseman; son Robert (Krista-Gayle) Saunders; grandchildren Victoria Wiseman, Cameron Saunders, Abigail Wiseman, Riley Saunders; brothers Donald Saunders, David (Ruby) Saunders, Kevin (Rose) Saunders, Boyd (Colleen) Saunders, Byron (Ada) Saunders, Dennis Saunders (Marian Radomirov); sisters Barbara (James) Dalley, Ruby (Victor) Kelly, Gladys (Clyde) Dove, Joy (Shawn) Weir; sister-in-law Judy Noseworthy, as well as many other extended family members and friends.

The Promotion to Glory service was held from The Salvation Army, Springdale, on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Majors Wycliffe and Shirley Reid officiating. Interment was at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Cherry Crescent, Springdale. Honorary Pallbearers were son Robert Saunders; son-in-law Terry Wiseman. The pallbearers were brothers Donald Saunders, David Saunders, Kevin Saunders, Boyd Saunders, Byron Saunders, Dennis Saunders. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
