It is with great sadness that the family of the late Donald "Wayne" Butt of Springdale, NL age 61, announces his passing, on Thursday, October 08, 2015 at the Green Bay Health Centre, Springdale, NL.
Wayne was born on April 3, 1954 to Bennett & Katie Butt of Springdale. Wayne married the love of his life, Maisie Pelley on December 16, 1972. Wayne and Maisie enjoyed forty-three years of marriage and friendship. Together they raised two boys, Tony and Stephen and were blessed with four grandchildren Kris, Katelyn, Kiran, and Kennedy.
He enjoyed life to the full. His numerous hobbies included: farming (both animals and vegetables) boating, hunting, fishing and a variety of outdoor activities. Wayne worked as a logger, heavy equipment operator and a miner during his working career; he was highly respected in each of these fields.
Wayne and Maisie have been blessed with a large circle of relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Bennett and Katie Butt; sister Sadie Edison. Wayne will be missed by all who knew him. His days of fighting cancer are over and he is now safe in the arms of his Lord.
Wayne leaves to mourn wife Maisie Butt; sons Tony Butt (Angela Reid), Stephen Butt (Tanya Warford); grandchildren Kris Butt, Katelyn Butt, Kiran Butt, Kennedy Butt; brothers Maybin (Jean) Butt, Bruce (Betty) Butt; sisters Shirley Giles, Sylvia (Dexter) Edison, Sheila Saunders.
The Home Going service was held from Springdale Pentecostal Church, Springdale, NL on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Lindsey Foster officiating, assisted by Pastor Norman Joy and Rev. Wilson Gonese. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Springdale, NL. Pallbearers were sons Tony Butt, Stephen Butt; brothers-in-law Randy Pelley, Barry Pelley; uncle-in-law Austin Pelley; nephew Brian Edison; friends Dean Weir, Colin Saunders. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Gail Hancock, Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
Donations: Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to the charity of one''s choice in his memory.
