It is with sadness that the family of the late Violet May Croucher (nee Bennett), age 58, of South Brook, NL announces her passing on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from Central NL Regional Hospital, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.

Violet May Bennett Croucher was born May 1, 1959 to Jack and Daisy Bennett at Beachside. She was number 9 of 12 children, the last to be born at home by midwife. She was a beautiful curly haired bundle of joy which remained with her until she passed away at 1:50 pm on Thursday, May 18, 2017 in Grand Falls-Windsor.

She grew up in a happy, active home, and being the daughter of a fisherman chores included housework, helping with younger children, spreading fish, bringing in wood, and collecting buckets of water. Whatever she helped with was done to perfection, as was anything she did until she passed away.

Violet met the love of her life, Larry Croucher, in high school and married him at age 18. They settled in South Brook and raised two beautiful children, Jennifer and Travis. Larry and Violet lived a very active and exciting, happy life together. They had many friends of all ages from teenagers to folks in their 80's. They enjoyed activities such as rabbit catching in their rabbit camp, with many boil-ups and snowmobile rides. On many moonlit nights they left home in South Brook and went out on snowmobile to haul their rabbit snares. Also riding on the quad was a favourite sport. At any time during the day, they would pack a lunch and head out for a boil up - to Spencer's Rock for a lookout and on to Barney's Steady for beans and bologna. Campfires were her favourite with family and friends and the more the merrier. No one made burnt marshmallows like Violet which was her favourite campfire food.

She loved going to church and being a shy person, she was content to sit back and enjoy the services, especially the music and singing with her church family. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and was looking forward to going to her heavenly home she knew was waiting for her. The road was rough and the journey seemed long but we know she is in Heaven with God, her mom and dad and other family and friends singing her favourite songs with the Angels.

Gone but will never be forgotten, we will miss Violet's gentle, kind soul, her beautiful, genuine smile and her strength, kindness and encouragement she showed towards others and in everything she did.

She is predeceased by her parents Albert "Jack" and Daisy Bennett; niece June Blackwood; great niece MacKenzie Bennett.

Violet leaves to mourn her husband Larry Croucher; daughter Jennifer Croucher (Andy Butt); son Travis (Ashley) Croucher; granddaughter Jessie Austin; sisters Vivian Andrews (Henry), Louise Thomas (Luke), Mildred Short (Harold), Florence Drover (Kenneth), Lorna Verge (Ward) and Joy Lemieux (Mario); brothers: Junior Bennett (Theresa), Arthur Bennett (Juanita), Bruce Bennett, Leonard Bennett (Brenda) and Ivan Bennett (Eileen), as well as many other relatives and friends who were all very special to her.

The Home Going service was held from Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle, South Brook, NL on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Kerry Northcotte officiating. Interment was at Pentecostal Cemetery, South Brook. Pallbearers were son Travis Croucher; son-in-law to be Andy Butt; nephews Rodney Drover, Jeff Short, Chris Bennett, Aaron Bennett; friend Jeremy Boyles. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Bill Weeks, Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
