It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stewart Arthur Roberts of Triton, NL, age 92, announces his passing on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from the Green Bay Health Care Centre, Springdale.
On May 19, 2019, Stewart was Promoted to Glory into the presence of his Lord who received him and welcomed him Home.
Stewart was born to William and Louisa Roberts on June 18, 1926. He met Elsie Hibbs and later married her. Together they raised 8 children, who were the joy of his life. He also was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren whom he treasured dearly.
At the very young age of 9 years old, Stewart started fishing with his dad, William. He continued fishing for a time but later transitioned from the fishery to working in the woods at various jobs, such as putting out beaver and mink traps. In the Spring of each year from 1962 to 1991, he would go to the Labrador to work. Stewart loved to moose hunt and build boats in his spare time. He also loved to go berry picking, rabbit catching, going to the cabin with his wife, Minnie.
In January of 2004, he accepted Jesus Christ (his Lord and Saviour) into his heart. Stewart loved to attend church and the open air church services in the summer months.
Life wasn't always easy; he had many ups and downs in his lifetime but always managed to pull through by God's grace and with help from people within the community.
Stewart moved to Springdale in 1999 to take up residence there after the passing of his wife, Elsie with his wife, Rowena. After Rowena's passing he met and later married Myrtle.
He is predeceased by his parents William and Louisa Roberts; 1 st wife Elsie Roberts (mom); 2 nd wife Rowena Roberts; 3 rd wife Myrtle Roberts; brothers Fred Roberts, Bill Roberts, Walter Roberts, Sam Roberts, Francis Roberts; sister Barbara Fudge.
Stewart left indelible memories for his family and friends to cherish forever. He leaves to mourn his, wife Minnie Roberts; sons Clarence (Gloria) Roberts, Wallace (Marge) Roberts, Bernard (Patricia) Roberts; daughters Faye (Hubert) Roberts, Florence (Roy) Tucker, Frances (Nelson) Rice, Fern (Cyril) Winsor, Freda (Morris) King; grandchildren Kelly Bridger, Kathy Bobar, Keith Roberts, Glen Anthony, Corey Roberts, Adam Roberts, Richard Tucker, Cindy Rice-Pardy, Peter Rice, Jeffery Rice, Patrick Rice, Russell Roberts, Renee Snow, Charlene Winsor, Craig Winsor, Matthew King, Melissa Deir, Danielle King, Christopher Roberts, Clinton Roberts; 32 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a large circle of stepchildren; nieces and nephews, as well as other family members and friends.
The Celebration of Life service was held from The Salvation Army, Triton, on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Majors Terry and Roxann Feltham officiating. Interment was at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Triton. The pallbearers were grandchildren Christopher Roberts, Clinton Roberts, Keith Roberts, Corey Roberts, Jeffery Rice, Renee Snow. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
