Stedman Harris
Clarke
Sep 18, 1942 — Oct 12, 2020
Springdale, NL
It is with sadness that the family of the late Stedman Harris Clarke of Springdale, NL, age 78, announces his peaceful passing on Monday, October 12, 2020 at his home in Springdale after a courageous battle with cancer.
Stedman dearly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. He taught them so much by the way he lived his life. No job or struggle was ever too much. He enjoyed life to the fullest, worked hard but loved harder.
He loved the outdoors! Enjoyed many snowmobile and quad rides with family and friends, which always ended with a boil-up of tea, toast, and kippers. Perhaps his biggest passion was picking partridgeberries and blueberries.
Stedman also enjoyed many days on the water catching fish or enjoying the ride. He was very proud of his wood and took great pride in how he stacked it neatly.
His welding work took him to many communities in NL, as well as the United States. In each community he made friends and memories that he proudly recounted to his family and friends. Stedman's quality of work and work ethics were a testament to his character. He took great pride in every job he did and was always quick to lend a hand or take on renovations in his children's homes...one could always count on him.
He was involved in many organizations in the church...lay reader, choir member, AOTS, and session. Stedman was also an active member of the Mason Organization. Last but not least, he dearly loved gatherings with family and friends to enjoy a meal and play a game of crib. Stedman loved to have a game with his dear friend Job at 10:00 am every morning...together they played an estimated 24,000 plus games. The games of Wampoo and Play Nine were also favourites of his. He enjoyed playing them with his cousin, his friends, his brothers and their wives, and his niece Golda and her husband.
Stedman's life was a living example of the bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 – "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
He is predeceased by his parents Allan and Minnie Clarke; brothers Harry Clarke, Philip Clarke; sisters Rhona Duggan, Belle Brown, Marjorie Morency; nephews Richard Clarke, Rodney Clarke, Billy Clarke; nieces Roxanne Clarke, Carolyn Clarke.
Stedman leaves to remember with fond and loving memories of the wonderful life that he lived his devoted wife Florence Clarke of 57 years; son Wayde (Peggy) Clarke; daughters Sharon (Rod) White, Charlene (Dwight) Goudie; grandchildren Christopher (Sue-Ann) Clarke, Jenny (Jeffrey) Young, Rebecca (Matthew) Bonnell, Andrew (Chelsea) White, Kiersten (Garrett) White, Joshua Goudie, Emily Goudie; great-grandchildren Bethany, Troy, Alyssa, Liam, Bria, Isabella, Cooper; brothers Charlie (Fronie) Clarke, Arthur (Florence) Clarke, Francis (Doris) Clarke; sisters Jessie Toms, Cynthia (Ian) Peckham, Brenda (Frank) Brown, as well as other extended family members and friends.
"Gone But Not Forgotten – Forever In Our Hearts!"
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors of St. Claire's Mercy Hospital, Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre, Central NL Regional Health Centre, and the Green Bay Community Health Centre. A special thanks to family and friends who showed support in a variety of ways. Your thoughtfulness was very much appreciated.
The Celebration of Life Service was held from the Grace United Church, Springdale, on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Rachel Robinson officiating.
