Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Shirley Lorraine Farwell, age 73, of Springdale, NL announces her peaceful passing from the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home, Corner Brook, on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

Shirley Lorraine Farwell was born on November 13, 1947 in Grand Bank to her parents Fred and Eleanor Farwell. She was the youngest of six children.

When Shirley was a teenager, she left Grand Bank and went to live with her sister, Freda, and brother-in-law, Jim. She stayed with Freda for over 55 years. She helped Freda in so many ways. Shirley was like a second mother to Janice, Craig, and Melvin.

Shirley loved going to church, she was a faithful member of the Springdale Pentecostal Church.

She was an excellent baker and housekeeper. Many people have tasted and enjoyed her cakes and cookies. Her house was meticulous! Everything had a place.

Shirley was very social; she especially loved meeting her friends at Tim Horton's for coffee. For many years, in the month of November, she would have a birthday party. The highlight would be her homemade cake; it was always delicious!

Shirley enjoyed her visits with her sisters - Ida in Corner Brook and Jean in Ontario. She was quite the shopper! She loved fashion and always looked so nice.

We love you, Shirley! You are forever in our hearts. We will have a grand reunion in Heaven.❤

Shirley is predeceased by her parents Frederick and Eleanor Farwell; brother Melvin Farwell; sister Caroline Farwell; brothers-in-law James Boone, Lloyd Stone.

She leaves to remember the wonderful life that she lived, sisters Jean Collier, Freda Boone, Ida Stone; nieces Janice (Stephen) Clarke, Caroline (Peter) Schamerhorn; nephews Christopher Collier (Ekaterina), Melvin Boone, Craig Boone, Paul Collier, Jason Stone; great-nephews Christopher, Nicholas, Jonas; great niece Desiree; her coffee friends, as well as other extended family and friends. She will be missed by her family and friends, but not forgotten.

The Celebration of Life service was held from Springdale Pentecostal Church, Springdale, on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Lindsey Foster officiating, assisted by Pastor Bill Sampson.
