It is with great sadness that the family of the late Shirley Eastman, age 76, announces her passing at the Valley Vista Senior's Home, Springdale, NL on May 24th. 2015.

Shirley was born in South Brook on November 7, 1938 to Timotheus (Mote) & Fannie Burton. Although she didn''t have an easy life, she had a great spirit. Due to circumstances beyond her control, she found herself raising a large blended family. She did this so well that the children always thought of themselves as one large family, never bothering with titles of "step" or "half." Shirley was known for her kindness, sweet spirit, and her willingness to help. She was selfless in her devotion to her family and community and especially to the residents of Valley Vista. She was always the mom - a real momma bear. She enjoyed so many things in life - planting a garden, going for a walk, sitting in her rocking chair but especially loved her church. Her faith in God was strong and her Christian walk was evident to all. She had a daily habit of spending time reading her Bible and praying.She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is pre-deceased by parents, Timotheus (Mote) & Fannie Burton; husbands, Charlie LeDrew and Lewis Eastman and four brothers.
Shirley leaves to mourn sons Randy (Rita), Trevor (Sue-Ann), Jeffrey, Tony (Donna), Herb (Sue), Glen; daughters Mary (Chris), Marguerite, Barb (Andy), Jean (Terry); 16 Grandchildren; 5 Great-grandchildren; brother Jim (Nealie); as well as many other family members, relatives and friends.

The Home Going Service was held from The Salvation Army, Springdale, NL on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 1:00 pm with Majors Collin & Jackie Abbott officiating. Interment was at the The Salvation Army Cemetery, Springdale, NL. The pallbearers were sons Randy, Trevor, Tony, Herb, Glen; son-in-law Chris; honorary pallbearer grandson Todd. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Flight of Life Program, Valley Vista, Springdale, NL.
