1935 - 2013

It is with sadness that the family of the late Selby Burton, age 78 of Port Anson, NL announces his passing on July 4, 2013. Selby Otto Burton was born to John & Priscilla Burton on February 14, 1935. He retired from the Department of Works and Transportation as a Heavy Equipment Operator in October 1987 due to a work injury. One of his favourite past times was splitting up wood for each winter. He did this until he was unable to do so due to his health. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents, John & Priscilla Burton; brother, Hubert & sister, Melvina. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife, Grace; daughter, Glenda (Elvis); sons, Jamie, Johnnie (Rebecca); brother, Baxter (Leona); sister, Bernice (Roy); grandchildren, Christian, Priscilla, Alexa; and a large number of other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held from the Pentecostal Church, Port Anson on Monday, July 8, 2013 with Pastor Tyrone Ball officiating, assisted by Pastor Dennis Curnew & Pastors Douglas & Sheila Purchase. Interment followed at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Port Anson. The pallbearers were Calvin Pelley, Wilbert Price, Woodrow Rice, Hedley Morgan, Eli Rice & Elvis Milley. Honorary pallbearers were Johnnie Burton & Christian Burton-Milley. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Chris, Harry & Judy of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
