Roy Edgar
Hewlett
Feb 27, 1954 — Mar 19, 2021
Robert's Arm,
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Roy Edgar Hewlett, age 67, announces his passing. Roy slipped peacefully into the presence of His Lord, from his family home, on March 19, 2021.
Roy was born in Miles Cove on February 27, 1954, the first born of the proud parents, Hubert and Flossie Hewlett. He grew up on the water, even operating the long liner by himself at the age of 12. His love for the outdoors never faded. He often would reminisce about his first car, a purple '71 Dodge Charger, 343 Magnum. In 1974, Roy saw Peggy V. Fudge in Robert's Arm while driving past Jerry's restaurant and it was love at first sight. He stopped to talk to Peggy and ask her if she wanted to go for a drive; this was the beginning of a lifelong loving relationship. Their first child, Angie, was born in 1975, and later married at the Salvation Army chapel in Brighton on January 31, 1976. Joining the family was their first boy, Christopher (kipper) and later B.J.
Roy started his career in mining industry and after working in the mill in Bathurst, NB, he started a long career in the logging industry. Wanting to raise his children in Newfoundland, he moved back to Robert's Arm in 1982. Eventually, Roy left the logging industry and worked in various fields including tourism, exploration, offshore-oil, heavy equipment operator, and off-shore fishing.
The most important thing in Roy's life, which brought him great joy, was his family. He passed on his wealth of wisdom, teaching how to fish, hunt, trap rabbits, and to operate the boat, snowmobile and quad, and much much more. He spent countless hours with his buddies having a good laugh, telling stories, and being a good friend.
Roy dedicated his life to the Lord in 1983 and was a very active member Word of Life Tabernacle in Robert's Arm. In peacefully passing away on the morning of March 19, 2021, he left a deep mark and hole in the lives of many. He was a good man, so well loved in his community, and will be greatly missed. He touched the lives of many people who were privileged to have met and known him.
Roy is predeceased by his father Hubert Hewlett; brothers Freeman Hewlett, Randy Hewlett; brothers-in-law Graydon Vincent, Harvey Fudge, Gower Fudge; Parents-in-law Pearce and Nellie Fudge; nephew Robby Leigh Hewlett.
He leaves to remember and cherish a lifetime of incredible memories, his wife Peggy Hewlett of 45 years; mother Flossie Hewlett; sons Christopher (Krista) Hewlett, B.J. Hewlett; daughter Angie Hewlett; grandchildren Kyle Fifield, Jesse Fifield, Stephen Hewlett, Johnathan Hewlett, Colton Hewlett, Ryder Hewlett, Jaxon Hewlett; great-grandchild Colbey Young; brothers Tony (Kay) Hewlett, Jerdon (Loraine) Hewlett, Jody Hewlett; sisters Juanita Vincent, Enola (Tony) Linton; brothers-in-law Steve (Pauline) Fudge, Terry (Shirley) Fudge, Dean (Paula) Fudge; sisters-in-law Yvonne (Stewart) Fillier, Fern (Paul) Henstridge, as well as a large number of other relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life service was held from Word of Life Tabernacle Robert's Arm, on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Laun Brushett officiating. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Robert's Arm. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren Kyle Fifield, Johnathan Hewlett, Stephen Hewlett, Colton Hewlett, Ryder Hewlett, Jaxon Hewlett.
