It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rowena Bowers (nee: Andrews) of King's Point, NL age 78, announces her passing on Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Complex, Springdale, NL.
On July 12, 1938 Rowena was born to John and Pearl Andrews of Shoe Cove Bight, NL. She was the fourth of nine children. At an early age along with her parents and siblings, they relocated to King's Point. It was there that she met and married Fred Fudge of Round Harbour, NL. Together they fished for many years. Rowena was a very hard worker and was not afraid a hard days labour. After the passing of first husband Fred, she met and married Cyril Bowers of King's Point, NL who was very very special to her.
She never had any children of her own but was a mother/grandmother to many. Rowena would love to cook and bake special treats for each of them. She was famous for her saying, "You want a cup of tea, my dear?"
Rowena also had a great love for her furry friend - Tommy the cat. But her greatest love and first love was Jesus Christ, whom she accepted as her Lord and Saviour at a young age. As a result of her commitment to her faith she became a member of the Pentecostal Church; she attended church faithfully till her health failed her. She has now entered her new home, Heaven; that is not built with earthly hands.
She will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her but never forgotten. They will cherish her memory forever.
Rowena is predeceased 1st husband Fred Fudge; 2nd husband Cyril Bowers; parents John and Pearl Andrews; brothers Bert Andrews, Claude Andrews; sister Verna Andrews.
She leaves to mourn her caretakers Cecil and Jessie Andrews; her special boys Quentin Andrews, Quency Andrews; sisters Maisie Hiscock, Ruby (George) Starkes, Shirley (Merlin) Pelley; brothers Harvey (Ruby) Andrews, Henry (Bride) Andrews; home care worker Krista Noseworthy; her furry friend Tommy the cat, as well as many other family members and friends.
The Home Going service was held from King of Kings Pentecostal Church, Kings Point, NL on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Murdock Pittman officiating. Interment was at the Interfaith Community Cemetery, King's Point, NL.
