It is with sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Ricky Grant Rowsell of Springdale, NL, age 43, announces his passing on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Springdale.
Ricky was born to David and Gail Rowsell of Little Bay Islands on July 11, 1974. He worked as a steel fabricator at G. Pelley Ltd., for 18 years.
He started dating his wife Krista Anstey on August 5, 1989 and later married on August 23, 1997. Together they raised two beautiful girls, Abigail and Madison. Ricky was a great husband and father, he loved his girls. He was very proud of the both of them for their achievements and loved watching both of them play their sports; Abigail – karate, Madison – hockey and soccer.
Ricky always had a smile and a distinguished laugh. He loved his shed buddies and the Little Bay Island gatherings. Everyone knew him by his musical choice "American Pie Song and the Cabin Party".
He was predeceased by his grandparents Theo and Hettie Oxford, Albert and Pearl Rowsell; father-in-law George Anstey; aunt Debbie Rowsell; uncle Cecil Locke.
Ricky leaves to mourn his wife Krista; daughters Abigail, Madison; parents David and Gail Rowsell; brother Ian (Andrea) Rowsell; mother-in-law Molly Anstey; brother-in-law Keith (Loriann) Anstey; sisters-in-law Karen Weir (James Groenen), Kyla (Glenn) Hewlett; nephews and nieces Jeffery, Brittany, Bailey, Timothy, Riley, Emily, Avery, as well as a large number of family and friends. He will be always remembered and loved by all who knew him – "Forever in Our Hearts".
The Celebration of Life service was held from The Salvation Army, Springdale, on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 11:00 am with Majors Wycliffe and Shirley Reid officiating, assisted by Major Gerald Lacey. Inurnment was at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Cherry Crescent, Springdale. The urn bearer was brother Ian Rowsell. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
