It is with profound sadness and bittersweet gratitude that we share the passing of our beloved brother Orven Austin, age 78, at the Long Term Care Home in Gander.  Orven was a longtime resident of Springdale, NL born on June 20, 1946.

Orven is predeceased by his parents Neil & Rita Austin; brothers Wayne and Lorne; brothers-in-law Elmo Weir and Sherman Pelley.

Left with fond and loving memories are his siblings Bryce (Elma) Austin, Linda (Roy) Rowe, Gayle (Bruce) Purchase, Joan (Dave) Tack, Faye (Wade) Earle, Wendy (Woodrow) Burt, Peggy (Elwin) Stacey, David (Sherry) Austin, Danny (Colleen) Austin, Perry (Audra) Austin; A large circle of nieces and nephews as well as a large circle of friends.

Orven was a 'Special Needs' person who faced many challenges and joys throughout his life.  He loved the simple pleasures of life, like riding his bicycle and visiting all his aunts and uncles and friends in the neighborhood. Splitting wood and piling it up was his passion.  Attending church and listening to music were also one of his favorite pastimes.  He was an avid harmonica player who performed at many community events.

The family extends their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Gabriel and the staff at the Long Term Care Home in Gander for their love and extraordinary care where they treated Orven like family.

The funeral service will be held from Springdale Pentecostal Church, on Thursday October 31, 2024 at 1pm.
