It is with great sadness that the family of the late Orvan Whalen Young of Elliot Lake, ON, age 67, announces his passing on Friday, August 18, 2017 at St. Joseph's General Hospital, Elliot Lake. Orvan was born to Archibald and Alma Young of Springdale, NL on November 18, 1949. He had one daughter whom they named Penney. He worked as a diamond driller in Elliot Lake, which he enjoyed every moment; as a result of working in Elliott Lake he made this his place of residence. Orvan enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, skidooing and taking his little dog Jake for a walk. He also enjoyed talking to people and being around them.He was predeceased by his parents Archibald and Alma Young; brother Kenneth. Left with fond and loving memories are his daughter Penney (Peter) Miller of Halifax, NS; special friend Pauline of Elliot Lake, ON; friend Agnes Young of Halifax, NS (mother of his daughter); brother Alonzo (Linda) Young, Golda (Francis) Young, Lorna (Ivan) Caravan, Joanne (Baxter) Critch; Sister-in-law Edna Young. As well, he leaves a large circle of nephews, nieces, other extended family and friends.

The Celebration of Life service was held from The Salvation Army, Springdale, on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Major Lindsay Oxford officiating. Inurnment was at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Cherry Crescent, Springdale. The urn bearer was Frances Young. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford at Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
