It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nina Hicks of Springdale, NL, age 70, announces her passing on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Springdale, NL.
Nina Norman was born to Alex & Hazel Norman in Pacquet on May 2 nd , 1948. Nina was one of seven children. On May 1 st , 1965 Nina Married Norman Hicks of Springdale and together they raised a family of four girls. Nina and Norm resided in Springdale for most of their lives with ten years spent living in Daniels Harbor and Nanisivik.
She was a lover of all things 'outdoors'; she was an avid walker and enjoyed her times out in boat and on the quad for a ride. Berry picking, entertaining people, volunteering at a variety of ministries in her church and just being a friend to so many was what kept Nina happy and engaged. Nina was a committed Christian for most of her life, long time member of Springdale Pentecostal Church and served her Lord faithfully. Church attendance was a regular part of her life and she loved to worship, hear God's word preached and to pray.
Family meant the world to Nina, her husband, children, grand and great grandchildren were the centerpieces of her life; her concern was always for their wellbeing. Often Nina would be heard praying for her family, asking for protection and help for her loved ones.
On June 25 th , 2018 Nina Hicks ended her battle with cancer, she graduated from this earthly abode and entered into her heavenly rest; she is gone but will not be forgotten!
Nina is predeceased by her infant son baby Hicks; parents Alexander and Hazel Norman; sister Marilyn Heath.
She leaves to remember the wonderful life that she lived, husband Norman Hicks; daughters Roxanne Hicks (Brian Ford), Marlene Hicks (Rocky Morey), Arlene (Craig) Pike, Roberta Hicks (Maxwell Weir); grandchildren Martin Hicks, Mark Hicks (Faith Butt), Sterling Andrews (Corey Taylor), Kelsey Andrews, Mackenzie Pike; great-grandchildren Brady Hicks, Sheldon Hicks, Cayden Andrews, James Hicks; step-grandchildren Clarke Weir, Lydia Weir, Spencer Weir; step-great-grandchild Katie-Lynn Butt; sisters Shirley (Charlie) Sacrey, Mabel Simms, Maisie Crane; brothers Gary Norman, Scott (Shirley) Norman; sister-in-law Maxine Norman, as well as many other extended family members and friends.
The Home Going service was held from Springdale Pentecostal Church, Springdale, on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Lindsey officiating. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Cherry Crescent, Springdale. Honorary pallbearer was granddaughter Kelsey Andrews. Pallbearers were daughters Roxanne Hicks, Marlene Hicks, Arlene Pike, Roberta Hicks; son-in-law to be Maxwell Weir; grandson Mark Hicks. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford at Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
