It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the death of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Nicolas Harry Short went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on January 27 2026, at the age of 92 at the Green Bay Health Centre in Springdale, Newfoundland.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Edna, parents Samuel and Minnie Short, in laws Fanny and George Fifield, Brothers Edgar, Allen and Lawrence, Sister and Husband Beulah and Baxter Roberts. Son in Law; Robert Wilkins, grandson Rodney and great-grandchildren: Joshua and Piper.

He leaves to mourn his brother, Rex (Elsie) Short, Sister in Law, Vivian Short. Brother in Law, Robert (Kathleen) Fifield.  Sons, Harold (Mildred), Gerald, and Duane.  Daughters: Linda, Leona (David) and Vera (George) 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Dad started working at an early age of 12 helping to support his family, he met the love of his life and married at the age of 18. They had 5 children within five years; later in life they adopted their grandson.  Dad spent many years working in the woods before moving from Robert's Arm to Windsor where they built a home and he worked for a company as a sheet metal mechanic.

Mom and Dad celebrated 70 yrs of marriage before she passed away. He and mom travelled a good deal in their motor home after they retired.  They spent 10 winters in Florida and hosted family and friends who travelled there during that time. Dad loved to sing and praise the lord.  He loved a good joke and if he got you to laugh he would tell it again.   Dad was God's gift to our family, our idol, friend, guide and our shining star.  He taught us many things, he was Mr. Fix-it, and he was respected and loved by all. Dad was always busy, whether it was building a deck or cooking a jigs dinner, he had to be doing something.  He was a hard-working man and loved helping others.  He will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be Friday, January 30, 2026 from 2 PM - 4 PM and 7 PM-9 PM at Word of Life Pentecostal Tabernacle, Robert's Arm, NL.

The funeral service will be held from Word of Life Pentecostal Tabernacle, Robert's Arm, NL on Saturday, January 31, 2025 at 11 AM with Pastor Geoffrey England officiating. Interment will be at the Robert's Arm Pentecostal Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
