It is with sadness that the family of the late Nellie Mildred Parsons announces her passing on August 22, 2013. She was born on July 24, 1928 at Port Anson, the daughter of Pleaman and Fanny Hewlett. On February 28, she married William Parsons of Freshwater, Carbonear. Together they raised five children, four daughters and one son. She leaves behind a family who loved her dearly; her daughters Sylvia (Gerald), Jean (Percy), June, Elizabeth (Eric), son Billy (Daphne), one sister Ivy, son in law Corvin; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren She was pre-deceased by husband, William; grandson, Sheldon; great-grandson Tristen; five brothers, two sisters and her parents Fanny and Pleaman. Mom was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a lover of nature. Her and Dad spent time in the woods, berry picking and enjoying the outdoors. In her later years she spent time at her cabin watching the eagles, ducks and loons. She was known by her family for her love of playing cards, her love of laughter and her way with words. She will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The Celebration of Life Service was held on August 24, 2013 from Centennial United Church, Robert''s Arm. Officiated by William Mecthem with interment at The United Cemetery. The Pall Bearers were: Billy Parsons (son), Richard Parsons, Billy Parsons, Jamie Roberts (grandsons); Shelly Winsor, Patricia Paddock, Lorie Ryan, Heidi Warr (granddaughters). Honorary Pall Bearers were: Hayley Ryan (Great Granddaughter), Billy Ryan and Ty Winsor (Great Grandsons).Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Gail Hancock and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.NL.
