It is with great sadness that the family of the late Minnie Eleanor Saunders (nee Norman), age 78, of Springdale, NL announces her peaceful passing surrounded by her family from the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre, on Saturday, February 27, 2021.

Minnie was born of January 29, 1943 to Aldophus and Leah Norman of Pacquet, NL. She moved to Springdale at the early age of 12.

She met her soul mate at an early age, starting with many dates involving transportation on the back of a pedal bike. From there to endless ski-doo rides with numerous boil-ups along the way. For 40 years they enjoyed their cabin on Indian Pond. It was their special "Happy" place, where they enjoyed to go and delighted in having their friends to come along with them.

Minnie was a hard-working, loving, and caring mom who raised a family of three while working at Riffs and Biway, until she retired at 60 years old.

She was an avid knitter, bingo player and loved her game of 120's and Phase 10. Ice fishing and cod jigging were her passions. She spent many hours on the pond catching the biggest fish and her patience allowed her to catch the biggest fish, while others weren't so lucky (LOL).

Family was of the upmost importance to Minnie, she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. The grandchildren remember being spoiled by Nan behind their parents backs by giving them touton dough and lots and lots of chocolate.

Minnie is predeceased by her parents Aldophus and Leah Norman; stepfather Stanley Earle; brothers Dennis Earle (infant), Eric Rideout (7years old); stepbrother Otis Earle.

She leaves to remember the wonderful life that she lived, her devoted husband of 60 years, Ronald Saunders; sons Tony (Deb) Saunders, Shawn (Sharon) Saunders; daughter Angela (Rick) Scanlan; grandchildren Ericka Scanlan, Ian (Taylor) Scanlan, Brianna Saunders, Jolie Saunders; brothers Wade (Faye) Earle, Roy (Janet) Sacrey; stepbrothers Freeman Earle, Melvin (Linda) Earle; nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family and friends. She will be missed by her family and friends, but not forgotten.

The Celebration of Life service was held from Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 10:30 am with Pastor Lindsey Foster officiating. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Cherry Crescent, Springdale. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines, the Celebration of Life Service and burial for the late Minnie Eleanor Saunders (nee Norman) will be for immediate family only in keeping with the current level four stipulations.
