Obituary

It is sadness that the families of the late Melrose Mary Rideout announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls Windsor, NL, aged 95 years.

Melrose was born on August 14, 1930 in Shoe Cove to Ellen and Isaac Chipp. As a child she moved to Middle Arm where she grew up. On December 5, 1947 Melrose married Frederick Rideout and they settled in King's Point where they raised their family.

Melrose was a kind, caring and generous person. Every special occasion she made sure that each and every one of her family members received their card. She loved to bake and especially loved to share the baked goods with her Family. Melrose was a phenomenal embroiderer and made many special quilts for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as many other family members. She loved to knit and in her later years she spent much of her free time doing word searches and reading.

Melrose will be forever loved, and fondly remembered by children Sidney (Lillian), Calvin (Nancy), Pleeman, Chloe (Eugene); grandchildren Rodney (Colleen), Valerie (Dean), Kerry (Nada), Kevin (Melinda), Kimberley (David), Gina (Leroy), Tara (Darrin), Joey, Patricia (Robert), Clint (Courtney), Randy (Tiffany); 13 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.

Predeceased by husband Frederick; daughter Fanny; son Frederick; daughter-in-law Katherine; parents Ellen & Issac Chipp; brother Sidney; sisters Stella & Effie; mother & father-in-law Fanny & Roland Rideout, as well as all of her brother and sister-in-laws.

There will be a Private Immediate Family viewing only Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM & a private extended family viewing at 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at The Salvation Army Church, King's Point NL.

The funeral service will take place Sunday, May 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM at The Salvation Army Church, King's Point, NL.

The interment will follow at the Interfaith Cemetery, King's Point, NL.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Green Bay Funeral Home, 145 Cpl. S. Bouzane Blvd., Springdale, NL.
