It is with sadness that the family of the late Melita Emma Ward, age 84 announce her passing on June 19, 2014. On September 30th, 1929 in Cards Harbour, the first cries of a beautiful baby girl were heard by Evangeline and Josiah Simms. They named this precious baby Melita Emma Harriett Simms. She was 1 of 10 children born to these loving parents.In 1950 Melita met the love of her life Jesse Ward and in Leading Tickles on October 5th, 1950 she married him. In the years to come they welcomed 4 wonderful, adventurous and mischievous children into the world. Venetta, Tony, Jerry and Valetta (Babe). Melita and Jesse had 44 wonderful years together before he was taken from her suddenly. She missed him everyday and longed to be with him.Melita was known to have a great sense of humour, she loved to laugh and just have fun but her greatest love was for her family and friends. She was a regular member of the Triton Salvation Army Corp, Home League and was enrolled as a soldier many years ago.Melita was pre-deceased by husband Jesse, and her brothers Harvey, Eric and Derrick. Left with fond and loving memories are her children: Venetta (Bruce), Tony (Madalyn), Jerry (Colleen) and Valetta (John). Sisters: Carrie, Celia, Lily, Juanita. Brothers: Jim and Bill. 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren along with a large number of relatives and friends. The Funeral Servcie took placeMonday, June 23, 2014 @ 2:00pm from The Salvation Army Triton with Majors Larry & Phyills Fudge officiating. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Triton. The Pallbearers were her grandchildren; Sheldon Lambert, Lori-Ann Oake, Eva-Jo Slade, Allanna Ward, Martin Ward and Terence Ward. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Gail Hancock and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
