It is with sadness that the family of the late Mary Emily Jane Huxter Springdale, NL, age 88, announces her peaceful passing on, Wednesday December 28, 2022, at Valley Vista Seniors Home, Springdale, NL.

She is predeceased by her husband Roy Huxter; daughter Faye Huxter, grandson Mark Bellows; brothers Albert Norman, Ralph Norman; parents Robert and Selena Norman.

Mary leaves to remember with fond and loving memories; sons Robert (Helen) Norman, Roger Huxter; daughters Gail (Otto) Knottnerus, Christine Huxter, Nancy Huxter, Lisa (Bill) Weeks; grandchildren Kerry Norman, Kelly Rich, Christa Meng, Robbie Huxter, Jenifer Huxter, Meghan Jesso, Richard Lane, Niki Knottnerus, Ariel Knottnerus, April Noseworthy, Jenna Weeks; many great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Emily Mary Jane Huxter, nee Norman, born to Robert and Selena Norman, on February 6, 1934. Mary began working at the age of fourteen; she eventually moved to Springdale where she met and married Roy, on January 4, 1956. They raised seven children, all of who have wonderful memories of her constantly moving hands, as she cooked, baked her bread, knit their winter socks, scarves and caps; as well as handcrafting years of holiday decorations.

Mary loved being at the cabin, fishing, berry picking and just spending time in the woods. Her generosities often lead to her sending plates of cooked meals and bowls of soup to neighbours and friends. At the end, she wanted nothing more than to be united with her beloved Roy…and so she is!

The Celebration of Life Service was held from Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Larry Noseworthy officiating. Pallbearers were; Nancy Huxter, Jenna Weeks, Renee Normore, Otto Knottnerus, Barry Norman, Robert Knight. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery, Springdale. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Harry Oxford & Julia Budgell of Green Bay Funeral Home
