MARIE HOBBS 1940-2012
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marie Hobbs of Springdale, NL, announces her passing into the presence of her Lord on Friday, April 13, 2012. Marie was born to John and Marjorie Greenham of Horse Islands, NL on September 15, 1940. She was the third of seven children. In 1959, she came to Springdale to work at Springdale Cottage Hospital as a nurses'' aide. She later met the love of her life, Gordon. They married and raised three children. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting and quilting. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and music. Marie had talent for playing piano and piano accordion. She thoroughly enjoyed shopping trips with family and interior decorating. She especially cherished evening walks in the moonlight. Marie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon. She leaves to mourn with wonderful memories her son Lorne (Donna); daughters: Faye (David Huxter); Zonya (Randy Regular); brothers: Melvin, Morris, and Claude Greenham; sisters: Rita Smith, Ruby Norman, Pansy Clance; grandchildren: Jennifer (Gregory), Stephen (Sarah), Melanie (Patrick), Mark, Chelsea and Victoria.
The funeral service was held from Springdale Pentecostal Church on Monday, April 16, 2012, officiated by Pastor Lindsey Foster, assisted by Pastor Ralph Rowsell, with interment following at Grace United Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Morris and Claude Greenham, Jim and Stephen Hobbs, Craig and Corwin Norman.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Gail Noel and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
