It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Lorne Ricky Burton of Springdale, NL, age 55, announces his passing on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Lorne is predeceased by his parents, Wesley & Audrey Burton; brother, Lee Burton; parents-in-law, Malcom & Rebecca Norman; brother-in-law, Milton Hawkins.

Lorne leaves to remember the wonderful life that he shared with his loving wife, Jackie Burton; son, Cameron Burton; fur baby, Teddy; brothers, Leonard (Robin) Burton, & Lewis (Elaine) Burton; sisters, Loretta (Trevor) Andrews, & Fern Hawkins; brothers-in-law, Kirk (Pansy) Norman), Wayne (Evelina) Norman, & Lorne (Ramona) Norman; nieces & nephews, Alyssa Burton (Lissy-Lou – special niece), Paula Norman, Tracy Norman Jones (Shawn), Stephanie Porter (Lionel), Blair Norman (Tasha), Megan Norman (Steve), Kalon Norman, & Lloyd Hawkins (Trina); great nephews & nieces; two great-great nieces; and a large circle of family and friends.

Lorne was born November 22, 1966 to Wesley and Audrey Burton of Long Island.  At a very young age Lorne showed incredible skill and creativity in carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, electrical, etc.  Basically a jack -of-all-trades. Never once doing things the way they were "supposed" to be done, but rather creating his own way of doing everything. More often than not, he used whatever was available (good garbage) resulting in the most amazing and often funny creations.  For years Lorne (a.k.a. Diesel) was what you could call the "Social director" for Beaumont as owner/operator of "The Camp".  That's probably where his love for loud music was born.  Like many Newfoundlanders he moved to Alberta for work and then back to Ontario where he met Jackie, the love of his life. They married two years later and had one boy, Cameron, who turned out to be his greatest achievement.  Lorne made living building trailers, building landscapes, building houses but mostly he built lasting friendships and the respect of others all along the way. While in Ontario his escape from the city became the trailer park; it was his little piece of Newfoundland on the weekends. He was able to move back to Newfoundland in 2011 and started building his dream home.  Most recently, Lorne worked at SRL.  He loved his job and especially the residents there; he would always brag how much they loved him too, and he wasn't wrong! Throughout his life, he wore many hats, including husband, father, son, brother, friend, maintenance man, landscaper, builder, etc., and he wore them all very well. Last week he laid down those hats and picked up the crown-of-life to wear in his new home in Heaven!

The Celebration of Life service was held from The Salvation Army, Springdale on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 11:00 am with Major Gerald Lacey officiating. Interment was at The United Church Cemetery, Long Island. Pallbearers were son Cameron Burton; brothers Lewis Burton, Leonard Burton; cousins Rex Anstey, Guy Burton; brother-in-law Wayne Norman; close friends Brent Ryan & Curtis Rideout.
