Lily Ethel
Maude Williams-Rice
Jul 8, 1935 — Aug 29, 2019
Triton
It is with sadness, but with a shout of victory, that the family of the late Lily Ethel Maude Williams-Rice (nee Simms) of Triton, NL, age 84, announces her passing on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Complex, Springdale.
Lilly Ethel Maude Simms was born to Josiah and Evangeline Simms of Triton. As a young lady, Lily met the love of her life Melvin Williams and they married in 1955. They settled in Triton and had five sons together. These five sons became the absolute joy of her life. Through difficult times, she always found a way to create a happy home for her family. Later in life, after Melvin's passing, she married Harold Rice and moved to Grand Falls-Windsor.
While living in Triton, Lily faithfully attended Maranatha Pentecostal Tabernacle. She enjoyed singing in the choir in her early years. She was most happiest when her house was filled with family and friends, enjoying lots of laughter and always had an abundance of food to share with whoever came to her house; whether it be family or friends or total strangers. Her favourite past times were knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Many of her children and grandchildren were recipients of these quilts and they will be cherished with loving memories of the hands that made each of them.
Her five boys could have never asked for a better mom and grandmother for their children! She will be forever missed but never forgotten by her family, friends and her community.
She is predeceased by her 1 st husband Melvin Williams; 2 nd husband Harold Rice; parents Josiah and Evangeline Simms; sister Melita Ward; brothers Harvey Simms, Eric Simms, Derrick Simms, James Simms.
Lily leaves to remember her wonderful life and to mourn her sons Guy (Gloria) Williams, Pat (Faye) Williams, Bob (Trudy) Williams, Hank (Alexia) Williams, Michael (Rochelle) Williams; grandchildren Shane Williams, Sheri Jennings, Rebecca Williams, Patrick Williams, Shelley Taylor, Robert Williams, Ryan Williams, Jenna Roberts, Conrad Vincent, Aaron Williams, Jonathan Williams, Emily Williams; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Celia Vincent, Carrie Tucker, Juanita (James) Campbell; brother Bill (Betty) Simms; daughter-in-law Myrna; stepdaughters June Yorke, Rosalind (Lloyd) Burton, Janice (Larry) Stone; stepsons Colin (Donna) Rice, Bruce (Donna) Rice, Dennis (Julia) Rice, Trevor (Michelle) Rice, Ira (Angela) Rice, as well as nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends. Forever Remembered and Ever Loved!
