It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Keith Byron Dalley, age 70 of Springdale, NL announces his passing, surrounded by his family at the Health Science Centre, St. John's, on Monday, August 31, 2020.

Keith was born on September 25, 1949, in Springdale, NL and resided there his entire life. He married Jean, daughter of Walter and Mabel Hamilton, on August 22, 1970 and they just recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

Keith was born just after Confederation with Canada and had a normal childhood in outport Newfoundland. He studied at Memorial University after high school and then returned home to become more involved in the family business, W.H. Dalley, which was established by his father William in 1954. He grew up working in the store after school and settled into the company as a career on January 1, 1970. Since then he has expanded the product offerings and the physical location as well to accommodate the increase in business. Under his control it has become a reputable and successful operation. He had a fierce determination to make the business successful and that was shown in the amount of working hours he invested. His son, Matthew, has been working alongside him for several years as he transitions into taking control of the business full time.

Keith has been involved in the local community by being a past member of Springdale Municipal Council, past volunteer fireman and member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 40.

Keith was a very outgoing and social man and enjoyed a good conversation and laugh with anyone who visited his business or he met in his daily life. He also enjoyed socializing with his friends and having a serious game of 500's, darts or pool.

Keith enjoyed all the Green Bay area had to offer and had regular hunting, fishing and boating trips with his family and friends. He spent many years vacationing at his cabin in Salt Pond.

In his spare time, which was modest, he cultivated lush vegetable gardens and was an avid woodworker and reader of non-fiction books.

He was literally a 'jack of all trades' and there was no project he did not have the courage to tackle himself. He took great pride in being able to perform any work whether it was one of his own projects or something for a family member or friend.

In recent years he scaled back his busy lifestyle to make more time to focus on his four beautiful grandchildren who gave him great enjoyment.

Keith is predeceased by his parents William and Jeanette Dalley; brothers Max Dalley, Glen Dalley, baby brother Wayne Dalley.

He leaves to remember the wonderful life he lived, his wife Jean Dalley; sons Bill (Paula) Dalley, Mark Dalley (Holly Hemmeon), Matthew (Deidre) Dalley; daughter Susanne Coombs (Mike Norman); grandchildren Aaron Dalley, Leah Dalley, Benjamin Dalley, Evan Dalley; brothers Melvin Dalley, Gerald (Edna) Dalley, Fred (Nita) Dalley, Donald (Maureen) Dalley; sisters Bonnie (Wayne) Vincent, Alva Faulkner, as well as many other extended family members and friends. He will surely be missed by his family and friends, but not forgotten.

The Service of Tribute and Memory was held from The Salvation Army, Springdale, on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 11:00 am with Majors Joshua and Pauline Randell officiating. The Pallbearers were sons Bill Dalley, Mark Dalley, Matthew Dalley; daughter Susanne Coombs; grandson Aaron Dalley; brother Don Dalley. Inurnment was on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Cherry Crescent, Springdale. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
