It is with great sadness that the family of the late Junior Roland Mitchell of Springdale, NL, age 74, announces his passing, on Friday, November 30, 2018 at his residence, Springdale, NL.

Junior Roland Mitchell was born to Adolphus and Mildred Mitchell on March 29, 1944 of Woodstock. He met and later married Hilda King of Harry's Harbour on August 12, 1965. They were blessed with 8 children, five boys and three girls.

Junior worked as a miner but he did many other odd jobs such as jacking up houses in the surrounding Green Bay area. When he had free time in the summer months, he spent most of his time out on Indian River Falls salmon fishing; he salmon fished for over fifty years and he sure could cast a line. He also enjoyed sealing, birding, moose hunting, or anything to do with the great outdoors. Junior really enjoyed being on the water and he had a great shot when it came to sealing.

Junior and Hilda would welcome you into their home and would always have a cup of tea to offer you, which Junior really enjoyed. He loved to make Newfie cook dinner no matter what time and would make pork buns, which everyone enjoyed.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. We will miss the little jokes that he use to tell us and the fun times that he use to make us smile.

Junior is predeceased by his parents Adolphus and Mildred Mitchell; brothers Frank Mitchell, Ralph Mitchell; sister Brenda Pynn.

Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Hilda Mitchell; sons Gregory Mitchell, Eugene (Sybella) Mitchell, Kevin (Emma) Mitchell, Quinton Mitchell (Samantha Anstey), Christopher Mitchell; daughters Christine Mitchell, Kimberly (Darren) Brown, Marlene Mitchell; 19 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother Ricky Mitchell; sisters Margaret Mitchell, Evelyn (Walter) King, Doreen (Morris) Hodder, Bonnie Mitchell, as well as many other family members and friends. Junior will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him. They will cherish his memory forever. Gone - But Not Forgotten!

The Celebration of Life service was held from Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 2 pm with Pastor Lindsey Foster officiating, assisted by Pastor William Sampson. Interment was at The Living Waters Cemetery, Springdale. Honorary pallbearer was daughter-in-law Samantha Anstey. Pallbearers were sons Gregory Mitchell, Eugene Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell, Quinton Mitchell, Christopher Mitchell; nephew Fenwick King. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout, and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
