It is with sadness but with a great hope that the family of the late Juanita Eileen M. Burton (nee Morgan), age 83 of Long Island, NL announces her Promotion to Glory, surrounded by her family at the Health Science Centre, St. John's, on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

Where do we begin to describe a lady who impacted so many lives from her family, friends, her neighbours or just an acquaintance that she met on her many journeys across our province or country? First of all, she was born on July 18, 1937 to Hartfield and Winnifred (known as Winnie) Morgan; that day marked the day she would impact many lives. Juanita grew up on Long Island with her family; she was the eldest of seven children.

At the very young age of 20, Juanita married the love of life, Tom Burton on August 29, 1957 of Long Island. It is there that they began to prepare for their very own family with their first born son Randolph being born one year later. They went on to have three more children, whom were born several years apart. Their second son Guy came into the world nine years after their first child, then 5 years later their first born daughter Verna came along and they thought they had their fortune. But too their surprise, 2 1/2 years they were blessed with another beautiful daughter Beverly. Unfortunately, sickness came neigh her husband Tom and they only got to spend 23 years of married bliss together; leaving her to raise her young family as a single mother but she survived with God's grace and strength. Juanita was also blessed with 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren whom she cherished deeply. She was committed to her family, worked hard to provide and care for them, she was their tower of strength; Juanita was a tower and source of encouragement to many others also.

As she started life's journey on earth, she became a woman of faith and accepted the Lord as personal Saviour at a very young age. Juanita attended church faithfully from a very young age and she was a devoted member to her church (The Salvation Army, Long Island). Even after her health failed her and she moved to Springdale with her daughter Verna and her husband Pat, she continued to support her church and community. Juanita was a soldier of The Salvation Army, a Sunday school teacher, junior soldier teacher, a home league secretary; she also stepped into many other roles when she felt there was a need.

Outside of her passion for her Lord and her family, she loved to do many different things such as baking, sewing, baby sitting her grandchildren and those around her. Juanita also loved to go for a ride whether it was to visit her son, daughter and their families in St. John's or venture across the island just for the fun of it. She was a very hard worker during her day; Juanita was a janitor at her local school as well as a homecare attendant in Robert's Arm for a short time.

Juanita loved the phone and always wanted to own her very own cell phone. At the age of 82 her children gave her a cell phone for Christmas; she was so proud of that very much desired gift. On Tuesday, September 8, 2020 she was promoted to her Heavenly home where she no longer needs or desires the special gift. She was reunited with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and all her loved ones who have gone on before her.

Juanita is predeceased by her husband Tom Burton; son Randolph Burton; parents Hartfield and Winnifred Morgan; sisters Marie Rideout, Audrey Burton; brother Lorne Morgan.

She leaves to remember the wonderful life she lived, her daughters Verna (Pat) Bromley, Beverly (Keith) Bromley; son Guy (Beulah) Burton; grandchildren Tina Burton (David Curtis), Bobby Burton (Erica Smith), Crystal-Jean Burton (Thierry Charbonneau), Dylan Burton, Tyson Bromley; great-grandchildren Ryan Croucher, Evan Croucher, Julia Croucher, Cory Burton, Brooke Burton; daughter-in-law Maxine Burton; sisters Ruby Colbourne, Gleason (Frank) Oake; brother Hedley (Betty) Morgan, as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends. She will surely be missed by her family and friends, but not forgotten.

The Promotion To Glory Service was held from The Salvation Army, Springdale, on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10:00 am with Majors Larry and Phyllis Fudge officiating, assisted by nephews Major Rex Colbourne, Major Reid Colbourne; niece Pastor Elaine M. Rideout. The Pallbearers were granddaughter Crystal-Jean Burton; grandson Tyson Bromley; nephews Brian Rideout, Rick Morgan, Lorne Burton, Major Reid Colbourne. Interment was on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Lushes Bight. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to her niece Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
