Obituary

It is with sadness that the family of the late John 'Jack' Dalley announces his passing at the Green Bay Community Health Care Centre, Springdale, NL, aged 85 years.

Jack was one of 15 children born to Robert and Annabelle Dalley in Twillingate.

At a very young age he started his first job working in the woods. After getting married and three children later they moved to Springdale,  where he worked in the Whalesback Mine.

Once settled he had an additional two children. Shortly after, he started and finished his career as a heavy duty mechanic with Boart Longyear.

During his time in Springdale, he was very active in the community, involved as a volunteer fireman as well as ground search and rescue for many years, was involved with hockey, played soccer and enjoyed curling.

Jack loved the Lord and was an active member of his church. Among other things, he helped with the opening of the current Thrift Store, an active member of the Men's Fellowship, was the caretaker of The Salvation Army Cemetery and during Christmas season, he organized the Kettle Campaigns.

Jack was a strong family man and especially enjoyed family gatherings.

Jack leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his son, Jeffrey (Heather) Dalley; daughters, Sharon (Larry) Wiseman, Sheila (Bob) Hodder, Rhonda Dalley, & Gaye (Andy) Morey; grandchildren, Susan Dalley, Kyle Wiseman, Heather (Matt) Valade, Brent Hunter, Dee Wiseman (Aaron Rowsell), & Jack Dalley; great-grandchildren, Alexis Dalley (Brady Roberts), Dylan Dalley, Kaisey McFatridge, Riley Hunter, Ian Anstey, Caleb Valade, Brett Dalley, & Colton Valade.

Jack is predeceased by his wife, Doris Dalley; parents, Robert & Anna Belle Dalley; brothers, Ron, George, Stan, Harold, & Wallace 'Wally' Dalley; sisters, Lucy Woolfrey, Gertie Young, Marion Burton, & Doreen Young.

As expressions of sympathy, donations in Jack's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

The public visitation will take place Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 2-4 pm from Green Bay Funeral Home, 145 Cpl. S. Bouzane Blvd, Springdale, NL.

The funeral service will take place Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 1 pm from The Salvation Army Citadel, Springdale, NL.

The interment will follow at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Springdale, NL.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Green Bay Funeral Home, 145 Cpl. S. Bouzane Blvd, Springdale, NL.
