Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marjorie Louise Joan Reid (Paddock) announces her peaceful passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Citizens Complex, into the presence of Jesus, her Lord and Saviour, with her loving daughters by her side, on September 15, 2026, Springdale, NL aged 84 years.

Marjorie, commonly referred to as "Joan", was a kind, sweet and quiet woman who was loved by all who knew her. Her family was always her focus and greatest joy. Joan was born on September 28, 1941 to John and Alfreda Paddock of Springdale, as the second child in a family of 16. Joan, being the oldest daughter, had helped her mother with the care of her siblings, and the household chores. At age 14, she had gotten a job working at Jonas Noble's store, which helped her family financially.

At the age of 18, she married the love of her life, Malcolm Warrick Reid of Miles Cove. Together they had two children; Patsy and Kathy. Joan and Malcolm were married for almost 55 years before Malcolm's passing in 2014.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories; are her daughters Patsy (Archie) Noble; Kathy (André) Bowers; Grandchildren; Corey (Karla) Noble, Bethany Bowers. Great grandchild; Reid Noble. Brothers; Bob, Don (Sherry), Lew (Shirley), Dave (Sheryl) Paddock. Sisters; Mary Burton, Patsie Churchill, Ruby Hull, Lily (George) Osmond, June (Rupert) Locke, Betty Pittman, Judy Hollett. Brothers in law; Norman (Barbara) Reid, Mervin (Yvonne) Short. Sisters-in-law; Elsie Reid-Rice, Bessie Reid, Loretta Short, Joan Lush, Marjorie Budden. As well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Joan is predeceased by; Parents John and Alfreda Paddock, Husband; Malcolm, Parents in law; Edgar Reid, Belinda Reid-Short and Step-Father Cecil Short. She will be missed and constantly thought of by all, but we are confident of and comforted by the fact that she is no longer in pain and is rejoicing in Heaven with her Savior, Dad/Pop and all of our loved ones who have gone home before her.
