It is with sadness that the family of the late Joan Elizabeth James of South Brook, NL, age 79, announces her passing on November 29, 2022.

She leaves to remember with beautiful memories, her husband Lloyd, daughter Dana (Chad) Hibbs; sons Bill (Violet) James, Bart James, Paul (Sharon) James, B.J. (Abby) James; grandchildren Cody (Kelly) Hibbs, Jake (Jocelyn) Hibbs, Nathan James, Logan James; great-grandchildren Peyton Hibbs, Mila Hibbs, Wesley Hibbs, Hunter Winsor; sisters Bonnie Earle, Pauline (Howard) Wheeler; brother Terry (Patti) Burton.

Joan is predeceased by her parents Levi and Lucy Burton; sisters Ethel Fifield, Avis Winsor, Marion Huxter, Dorothy Grant; brothers Lloyd Burton, Roy Burton, Ross Burton, Gerald Burton; as well as a large circle of nieces and nephew and wonderful friends whom she loved dearly.

Joan was born on October 26, 1943 in South Brook, NL. On August 22, 1959 she married the love of her life, Lloyd James. Together they raised 4 children and 1 grandson, Bill, Bart, Paul, Dana and B.J.

In her later years, she took into her own home and care for her mom, mother-in-law and father-in-law for a number of years.

Joan loved quilting, painting, cooking, baking, entertaining and berry picking. She was the life of the party, so loved to get people laughing.

Joan never held back from speaking her mind, always with good intentions! She was always there to help anyone in need. Her door was always open. Her family was everything to her.  Family was paramount!

Joan had many health challenges throughout her life. On November 29, 2022@12:41am she drew her last breath. It was very difficult to say goodbye. The family is now thankful that she is free from all of her suffering. She is in a better Place. She was greatly loved by her family and friends.

The Celebration of Life service was held from Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle, South Brook, NL, on December 3, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastor kerry Northcotte officiating. Internment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, South Brook, NL. Pallbearer were sons Paul James, Bill James, B.J. James Bart James; grandson Cody Hibbs, and family friend Andre Beaupre.. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
