Jessie Elizabeth
Huxter
Dec 5, 1934 — Sep 21, 2019
It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that the family of the late Jessie Elizabeth Huxter (nee Curtis), age 84 of Springdale, NL announces her passing on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from the Green Bay Health Care Centre, Springdale.
On December 5, 1934 Jessie was born to Abner and Violet Curtis of the Horse Islands. While a young woman, Jessie moved from the Horse Island to Springdale and went 'out in service' with the Clarke family.
Later she met the love of her life, Harry Huxter whom she married and they had four children together. She worked diligently to create a loving home for her family. Jessie passed her skills of knitting and crocheting on to her daughters. Harry passed his carpenter skills unto his sons.
Jessie (mom, nan, or aunt Jess) was 'cookie queen' for all of her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and anyone that came into her home. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her quick wit and her generosity. No one came into her home and left empty handed. There were always cookies, cake, jams, bottled pickles, beets, and salsa.
Her love of giving always brought a smile to someone's face.
Jessie is predeceased by her husband Harry Huxter; daughter Edna Huxter; parents Abner and Violet Curtis; sisters Ethel Greenham, Nellie Mitchell.
She leaves to remember the wonderful life that she lived, her daughter Peggy (Terry) Dawe; sons Jack (Dale) Huxter, Tony (Joanne) Huxter; grandchildren Selina "Jane" (Jason) Fontaine, Ty Huxter, Kegan Huxter, Steven Dawe; sisters Loretta Curtis (Camiel Vandenberghe), Mavis (Ben) Milley, Effie Gullage; brothers Eric (Loretta) Curtis, Jack (Velma) Curtis, Lenester (Linda) Curtis, as well as other family members and friends. She left indelible memories for her family and friends to cherish.
Ever Remembered, Ever Loved – Forever In Our Hearts!
