It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jeanette Joyce Whalen (nee King) of Pilley's Island, NL, age 69, announces her sudden passing on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Pilley's Island, NL.

Jeanette was born on June 7, 1948 in Pilley's Island, NL to parents Frederick and Alma King. Jeanette married the love of her life, Gerald on June 22, 1968. They loved spending time together and were inseparable.

Jeanette loved her working time at FPI where she retired in 2010. She was a member of The Salvation Army Home League, which she enjoyed to the fullest. She loved tending to her flowers, in the garden or inside. She enjoyed taking trips in the outdoors, berry picking, going for a boil up or ice fishing.

She deeply loved and cared for all her family and felt an unwavering sense of pride in them all.

Generosity, unconditional love, perseverance, determination, strength and loyalty are just some of the many qualities Jeanette possessed throughout her remarkable life. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of enduring faith and deep love which will provide lasting comfort to us all.

Jeanette is predeceased by her husband Gerald Whalen; parents Fredrick and Alma King; brothers Gilbert King, Gerald King, Pearce King, Stafford King, Tony King; brothers-in-law Otto Whalen, Nelson Whalen, Raymond Whalen, William Fifield.

She leaves to remember the wonderful life that she lived – son Rick (Jennifer) Whalen; daughters Paulette (Richard) Roberts, Faye Whalen; grandchildren Miguel Whalen, Ashley (Blake) Rice, Kaitlyn Roberts, Tyson Roberts, Ryan Whalen, Shane Whalen, Kayla Whalen; great-grandchildren Gannon Rice, Blakelee Rice, Iziah Whalen, Maddison Rice, Brett Roberts; sisters Madge (Ken) Roberts, Mabel (Roy) Strickland, Patsy King (Malcolm Martin); brothers Charlie (Nancy) King, Clyde King, Ben King, Curtis King, Derrick King; sisters-in-law Ruby Whalen, Viola (Chesley) Simms, Gretta Whalen; brothers-in-law Edward (Dulcie) Whalen, Frank Whalen, Floyd Whalen, as well as many other extended family members and friends. Jeanette will be missed by all who knew her. "Ever Remembered, Ever Loved – Forever In Our Hearts!"

The Celebration of Life service was held from The Salvation Army, Pilley's Island, on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Majors Arley and Darlene Masters officiating. Interment was at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Pilley's Island. The pallbearers were daughters Paulette Roberts, Faye Whalen; grandsons Miguel Whalen, Tyson Roberts; son-in-law Richard Roberts; daughter-in-law Jennifer Whalen. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford at Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
