Jay Roberts 1974-2012

It is with sadness that the family of the late Douglas Quentin Jay Roberts, age 38, announces his passing at Springdale Hospital on December 21, 2012.

Jay was born on June 22, 1974 in Springdale, NL. He attended Dorset Collegiate and Academy Canada and was a proud member of the Triton Fire Department. He was an avid reader, loved to fish and socialize with his many friends. Jay worked many years for DRL, Triton and Tower Arctic, Iqaluit. He was a great mechanic and enjoyed this work very much.

He leaves to mourn son Douglas; daughter Ashley; mother Darlene; brother Christopher (Terri Lynn); sister Melanie (Ben Fiander); as well as a large number of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service, officiated by Majors Trixie and William Kean, was held from The Salvation Army, Triton December 23, 2012. There was an impressive and touching honour guard formed by the combined Triton, Brighton and Pilley's Island Fire Brigades, who then escorted the body to its final resting place at Evergreen Cemetery. The pallbearers were Triton Firemen: Trent Roberts (Chief), Darrin Roberts, Lloyd Mayo, Reginald Rice, Deon Winsor & Ed Whalen.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Gail (Noel) Hancock and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
