It is with great sadness that the family of the late James "Jim" N. Boone, age 77, of Springdale, NL announces his passing on January 28, 2017 from the Green Bay Health Care Centre, Springdale, NL.
James Noel Boone was born December 6, 1939, in New Bay (Cottrell's Cove) to Dorothy Boone. He met his dear wife, Freda Farwell, while working at Botwood Hospital as an orderly. They were married in 1964 and had three children - Melvin, Craig, and Janice.
Jim worked as a foreman in the mine in Labrador City for several years. He moved to Springdale in 1974 to work at Green Bay Mining. Before his retirement, he worked for almost 20 years at Eastern Analytical in Springdale. He was well respected and loved by his co-workers there.
Jim was a volunteer at the Green Bay Food Bank and very involved in the local churches he attended. He taught Sunday School and attended Men's Fellowship. He was a regular speaker at Valley Vista for their afternoon Sunday services.
Jim loved the outdoors. One of his great delights was farming and raising animals on his little piece of land "up the road". Over the years, he had sheep, goats, cows, pigs, chickens, rabbits and several well-loved pets! He enjoyed trout fishing with his sons, Melvin and Craig, and later, his grandson, Christopher.
Jim had one grandchild and they loved each other dearly. Christopher was Poppy's "Angel Boy" and friend. How many hours did they spend reading books and chatting?!
But if Jim wanted to be remembered as anything, he would want to be remembered as a man of faith in God. Jesus completely transformed his life over 30 years ago. He always had an encouraging word and would visit and pray for the sick. He displayed Christ in his daily life. He left a great testimony of God's power and marvelous grace.
He was predeceased by his parents Eugene and Dorothy White.
Jim leaves to mourn his wife Freda; sons Melvin and Craig Boone; daughter Janice (Steve) Clarke; grandson Christopher Clarke; brother David (Ettie) White, and a number of close family and friends.
Son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed tremendously…
Until we meet again!
