It is with sorrow that the family of the late James Huxter, age 94, announce his passing at the Green Bay Health Centre, Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Leaving to mourn are his daughters Barbara (Harvey) Rice, Kathy (Ron) Burton; son Rick (Annette) Huxter; sisters Lillian Normore and Lorraine Huxter; sisters-in-law Mildred Huxter, Rosemary Huxter; grandchildren Jennifer Rice, Heather Rice, Stephanie MacCuaig, Sara Huxter, Kendra Beaurivage, Kristal Baron and Vanessa Goudy; great-grandchildren Jenna Goudy, Kiera Huxter, Alex Naylor, Emerson MacCuaig, Jordon Beaurivage,  Nathanal Beaurivage, Ryan Beaurivage, Dylan Beaurivage, Joshua Jackson, Cloe Jackson, Michael Baron, McKenzie Baron, Jacob Baron, Haley Rogers; great- great-grandchildren Hunter Goudy, Brighton-Goudy-Romund, Kolson Goudy-Romund, Blakey Rodgers , Lennon Rodgers, Michael TJ Baron.

Predeceased by his wife Betty; son Leonard Huxter; parents Roland and Flora Huxter; brothers William, Fred, Harold, Roy, Harry; Sisters Ada Huxter, Doris Knight, Grace Foss, Nellie Tizzard.

James (Jim) was born at Springdale, on August 13, 1930. He spent his early working career as a cookee at the A.N.D Company woods camps. He also worked on the construction of the Trans Canada Highway in Central. In the early sixties he started as a cook/technician at the Indian River Spawning Channel with Fisheries and Oceans.  In the mid-seventies, he began working as a Warden on Indian River for several years. He then progressed to become a Fisheries Officer and retained this position until retirement in 1993.

Jim was an avid outdoor enthusiast who loved hunting, fishing, camping and exploring. He also loved gardening.

Jim was a faithful member of the Springdale Pentecostal Church for all of his adult life. Ours and his firm belief in eternal life "beyond the veil" is what sustains us at this time.

The Celebration of Life service will be held at Springdale Pentecostal Church, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 1 pm with Pastor Kimberley Foster officiating. Interment will be at the Springdale Pentecostal Cemetery, Cherry Crescent.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
