James "Jim"
Arthur Simms
Dec 21, 1931 — Jun 4, 2017
Triton, NL
The family of the late James "Jim" Arthur Simms of Triton, NL, age 85, announces his Promotion to Glory, on Sunday, June 04, 2017 at the Central NL Regional Hospital, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.
Jim lived life to the fullest, and did his best to pour into the lives of others with words of encouragement and hope. He found his hope when he invited Christ to be Lord and Master of his life in 1959. He lived out his commitment to Christ within the community and within the Salvation Army Corps. He was a participant of the Men's Fellowship and Orangemen's Lodge, but was found most often doing his "preaching and ministry" to all who encounter him in his daily activities. His faith was the anchor that held his world together. With losing children prior in life, the need for a faith that was unwavering and steadfast was extremely important. Being the spiritual leader of his home meant, much time in the word and daily communion with the Lord.
Though life had thrown him some trials along his journey, he kept his eyes on Jesus, and continued to show love and compassion to many, especially those who were lost and broken.
He had the ability to see a person for the creation God made them without judgment and provided grace where it was needed. Jim had a heart so big as the outdoor. Generosity flowed through his veins it seemed and if you were in need and he could fill that need, it was another happy day for him.
He was a very driven person and hard work never scared him. From working in the Logging Industry to sailing the seas as a Fisherman, commitment and dedication to a hard day's work was something that gave him a sense of accomplishment and obedience.
He was a part of this community that brought much laughter, joy, and fun. He will be sadly missed by all, but lives will be touched for a life time.
He is predeceased by parents Joseph and Evangeline Simms; son Terrance Simms; daughter Tina Simms; brothers Harvey Simms, Eric Simms, Derrick Simms; sister Melita Ward.
James "Jim" leaves to mourn wife Marie Simms; sons Harry (Mavis) Simms, Austin (Mae) Simms, Clayton (Cathy) Simms; daughters Loretta (Bob) Roberts, Wavey (Roger) Hibbs, Patricia Simms, Janice (Archie) Colbourne, Olga (Darren) Sheppard, Dana Colbourne; grandchildren Kristian (Lesley) Simms, Sheldon Simms (Melanie Vincent), Allister Simms, Tina (David) White, Daniel Simms, Rebecca Simms (Evan Bowen), Michael Simms (Chelsea Green), Jake (Jenna) Roberts, Christopher Hibbs (Leigh-Ann Dyer), Deena Hibbs (Marcus Fudge), Joey Simms, Faith (Shane) Christie, Matthew (Lecia) Colbourne, Carrie Sheppard, Colden (Mandie) Sheppard, Noah Colbourne; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Bill (Betty) Simms; sisters Lily (Harold) Rice, Celia Vincent, Carrie Tucker, Juanita (James) Campbell; as well as other extended family members and friends.
