It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ivy Emma  Marie Huxter of Springdale, NL, age 88, announces her peaceful passing on, January 8, 2023 at The Kingsway Living Retirement home  Springdale, NL.

She is predeceased by her husband Allan Huxter; infant  daughter Diane Huxter; Son Arthur Huxter; Brothers Bonnell Thorne, Winston Thorne, Arthur Thorne, Leonard Thorne; Sisters Ruth Stark,  Laura Thorne; parents Louis and Carmen Thorne.

Ivy  leaves to remember with fond and loving memories; brothers Lou Thorne, Wallace Thorne, Bram Thorne  and Andy Thorne; daughter Thelma (Tom) Ricketts; sons Jeffrey (JoAnne ) Huxter, Bruce (Maureen) Huxter, Dwight (JoAnne)Huxter, Andrew (Michelle) Huxter; daughter in law Linda  Huxter; many grandchildren,  Jodi, Geoff, Sandy, Jamie, Stephen, Heather, Jennifer, Sydney, Cameron, Austin, Scott, Brice, Rylee, Jayden.

Many great-grandchildren; and great great-granddaughter, and many extended family members and friends.

Ivy was born in November 30, 1934 in Bishop's Falls. Upon graduation from High School, she moved to Springdale in 1952 to work in the Hospital.  While working in Springdale,  she met the love of her life, Allan. They were married in August 22, 1953. They raised six children and taught them the values of if you work hard and be kind to others you will reap the rewards.

She was very active member of the Salvation Army in Springdale e.g. Sunday school teacher, Member of the League of Mercy, life member of the Home League, The Songster Brigade, Girl Guide Leader, and a leader of the Joy Fellowship.

As many of you may know she had one of the biggest heart and always but others first before herself. Always there for anyone that needs a hug to brighten up their day.

To say that she loved her family would be an understatement, when you needed someone to listen, cry, or laugh with, she was always there.

The Promotion to Glory service was held from The Salvation Army, Springdale, NL on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Majors Joshua & Pauline Randell officiating. Interment was at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Cherry Crescent, Springdale, NL. The pallbearers were sons  Jeffrey, Bruce, Dwight, Andrew; brother Andy Thorne; family cousin Wilbert Huxter. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
