It is with sadness but with a great hope that the family of the late Hedley Pearce Morgan, age 83 of Long Island, NL went home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, June 4,2026 surrounded by his family at the Health Science Centre, St. John's.

He leaves to remember the wonderful life he lived, his loving wife, Betty; his sons, Ricky (Melissa) Morgan, Sterling (Jacqueline) Morgan, Jason (Cynthia) Morgan; daughter, Cindy (Durwin) Jacque; grandchildren, Melody (Matt) Blackmore, Kristian (Sarah) Morgan, Samantha Morgan, Joshua Morgan (Latoya Lush), Colleen (David) Pittman, Colette (Nathan) Fowler, Shelley (Eddie) Spurrell, Samantha Morgan, Stephanie (Christian) Smitheram, Staci-Ann Morgan (Stephan Butler); great-grandchildren, Zoey Blackmore, Parker Blackmore, Amber-leigh Mesher, Lily Morgan, Lyla Morgan, Jackson Pittman, Lucy Pittman, Lucas Fowler, Cole Fowler, Nathan Spurrell, Summer Spurrell, Annalise Hillier, Hayden Smitheram, Jared Smitheram; sisters, Ruby Colbourne, Gleason (Frank) Oake; as well as many other extended family members and friends. He will surely be missed by his family and friends but not forgotten.

Hedley is predeceased by his parents, Hartfield and Winnifred Morgan; sisters, Juanita Burton, Marie Rideout, Audrey Burton; brother, Lorne Morgan.

Hedley Morgan was born in the small town of Lushes Bight Long Island, NL and married the love of his life, Betty Miller, December 27, 1965. Family was the heart of everything Hedley did. He was a loving father to his four children, grandfather to 10 grandchildren, and great-grandpa to 14 great-grandchildren. They will forever cherish his guidance, unwavering support and hard work.

Hedley was a devoted man of faith and attended the Pentecostal Church at Long Island, Robert's Arm and Springdale and, later in life, attended The Salvation Army in Goose Bay.

His beliefs guided his life and were evident in his kindness, generosity, and steady presence in the lives of those who knew him.

He was also well known for his love of conversation, especially if it was after 6 pm when long distance calling was free of charge. He had a gig for story telling and sharing about all of life experiences from 2 years old onwards. He made sure no one ever felt far away.

The public visitation will take place Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM & 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at The Salvation Army Long Island Citadel, Long Island, NL

The funeral service will take place, Monday, June 8, 2026 at 2:30 PM at The Salvation Army Long Island Citadel, Long Island, NL with Major Rex Colbourne officiating.  The interment will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Lushes Bight, NL with Pastor Elaine M. Rideout officiating.
