Obituary

It is with sadness that the family of the late Hazel Jane Burton (nee Rideout) of Springdale, NL, age 83, announces her passing on July 19, 2019 at the Green Bay Health Care Centre, Springdale.

Hazel was born July 28, 1935 to Moody and Evelyn Rideout of South Brook. On March 23, 1954, she married Otto Amos Burton and together they raised 9 children.  Hazel was a homemaker and enjoyed every moment of caring and providing for her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother; she loved each of her children and grandchildren very much. She was an individual who always worried about everyone else first and always put herself last. Hazel was a wonderful cook.

Hazel accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Saviour in her younger years and loved serving Him. She would witness for the Lord, every chance she got. Hazel loved the word of God and enjoyed sharing the good news of the gospel.

She was predeceased by her husband Otto Burton; parents Moody and Evelyn Rideout; brother Guy Rideout.

Hazel leaves to mourn her daughters Eileen Burton, Lovetta (Dennis) Helmuth, Peggy (Edward) Roberts; sons Wayne (Jean) Burton, Tony (Primrose) Burton, Larry Burton, Melvin Burton (Rebekah Snow), Andy Burton, Randy Burton; 13 Grandchildren; 15 Great-grandchildren; 2 Great-great grandchildren; sister Dorothy Saunders; brother Gus Rideout, as well as other family members and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Ever Remembered, Ever Loved – Gone But Not Forgotten!

The Home Going service was held on July 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm from Springdale Pentecostal Church with Pastor Lindsey Foster officiating, assisted by Pastor Bill Sampson and Pastor Norman Joy. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Cherry Crescent, Springdale. The pallbearers were her sons Wayne, Tony, Larry, Melvin, Andy, and Randy Burton. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
