It is with great sadness that the family of the late Grace Marion Anthony (nee Colbourne) of Robert's Arm, NL, age 74, announces her passing, on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Complex, Springdale, NL.
Grace was born at Lushes Bight on February 23, 1943 as the eldest daughter of Nellie and Ross Colbourne. While attending high school in Robert's Arm to complete grade XI in 1960, she met the love of her life, Dawson Anthony. They were married soon after and moved to Baie Verte for 12 years where Dawson was employed by the Asbestos Mine.
She attended trade school and became a Hairstylist which led to self employment in her home. Grace was an avid gardener and enjoyed the great outdoors. She was always very proud to show her beautiful flowers and delighted in growing vegetables in the yard around her house. Grace was a masterful cook and preserve artist and enjoyed inviting her friends in to sample her creations. She enjoyed volunteering in her community and church. She was an active member of the town's recreation committee and the local Canadian Red Cross for many years. Grace was a member of Centennial United Church and many church committees such as the Official Board, the Board of Sessions and the UCW.
Grace had a passion for reading and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and relished the time with them.
She is predeceased by her husband Dawson Anthony; parents Ross and Nellie Colbourne; infant sister Alice Colbourne; brothers Max Colbourne, Frank Colbourne.
Grace leaves to mourn her son Paul (Laurita) Anthony; daughter Dawn (Todd) Wiseman; grandchildren Clinton Mitchell, Crystal Anthony, Joshua Pamak, Robyn Wiseman, Joey Wiseman; great-granddaughter Naomi Adams; sisters Faye (Bruce) Bradbury, Gail (David) Rideout, Gladys (Randy) Street, Marilyn (Dennis) Gillingham, Mildred Colbourne, Joanne (Paul) Halfyard, Pauline Colbourne; brothers Lloyd (Effie) Colbourne, Eric (Marilyn) Colbourne, Harold Colbourne (Ruby Colbourne), Clyde (Sue) Colbourne, Shawn (Joy) Colbourne; as well as many other family members and friends. Grace leaves them with fond memories that will last a lifetime. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
The Celebration of Life Service was held from Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Mrs. Barbara Noble officiating. Inurnment was at the United Church Cemetery, Robert's Arm, NL. Urn-bearer was her son Paul Anthony. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout, and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
