Gladys N.
J. Paddock
Jul 9, 1927 — May 13, 2020
Robert's Arm, NL
It is with sadness that the family of the late Nellie "Gladys" Jessie Paddock, age 92, of Robert's Arm, NL announces her passing at the Green Bay Health Care Centre, Springdale, on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
Gladys was born on July 9, 1927 to William and Jemima Short at Lushes Bight, Long Island. She was one of four children; three girls and one boy.
At the age of 17 she met the love of her life, Bert Paddock, and after they dated for three years they were married on September 6, 1947. Together they had five children; Nerissa, Rhona, Ford, Rex, and Donna.
She devoted her life to her children, but she worked diligently day and night caring for her mentally challenged son - Ford for 65 years, until he went into long-term care for which the family are forever grateful.
Proverbs 31:27–30 reads, "She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised".
One glorious Sunday evening in November 1980, she realized her need of a Saviour and accepted Him into our heart. From that time on Jesus was her source of strength to get through each day. Her Saviour lovingly welcomed her into His presence on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 from the Green Bay Health Care Center, Springdale.
She is predeceased by her, parents William and Jemima Short; sisters Hilda Short, Tassie Newbury.
Gladys leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her, husband Bert Paddock; daughters Nerissa Kunze, Rhona (Garry) Cromwell, Donna Winsor (Kevin Collins); sons Ford Paddock; Major Rex (Major Catherine) Paddock; brother Albert (Lily) Short; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, as well as other family members and friends.
"Ever Remembered, Ever Loved - Gone, But Not Forgotten - Forever In Our Hearts!"
