It is with sadness that the family of the late Fredrick 'Fred' Spencer of Springdale, NL, aged 92, announces his passing on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

Fred is predeceased by: his wife, Edna Spencer; son, Donald Spencer; daughter, Pansy Curtis; brother, Bert Spencer; parents, Alexander and Winnifred Spencer

Fred leaves to remember the wonderful life that he lived his son, Wayne (Maxine) Spencer; daughter, Christine (Roger) Osmond;  grandchildren, Travis (Yullia) Spencer, Michael Spencer, Barry (Stephanie) Spencer, Pamela (Fred) Sheppard, Dylan Osmond, Julie Osmond, Tony (Mindy) Curtis, Andy (Crystal) Curtis, Kim (Shawn) Hayes; great-grandchildren, Maximus Spencer, Lincoln Spencer, Ryder Curtis, Reed Spencer, Allie Spencer, Peyton Sheppard, Rhyen Sheppard, Bailey Curtis, Parker Curtis, Isaiah Budgell, Emily Hayes, Carter Hayes; brother, Brian (Mary) Spencer; sisters, Margaret (Don) Alyward, Eileen Oake, Joan (Brian) Taylor, Marie (Ray) Cole; daughter-in-law, Mamie Spencer; As well as nieces, nephews, and many friends who were all special to him.

Fredrick George Spencer was born on May 18, 1929 to Alex and Winnie Spencer of Springdale. Fred was one of seven children. Fred married Edna Burton and together they raised 4 children.

Fred was a hard working man; he was heavily involved in the mining industry, working at Tilt Cove, Rambler Mines, and Advocate Mines. Fred was also a carpenter and general contractor who worked in many areas of the province. There are numerous projects in Springdale that have his distinct mark on them (Springdale Stadium, The Pentecostal School, etc). Fred loved the outdoors; he was an avid fisherman, hunter, and boater and held a great respect for the great Newfoundland wilderness.

On September 5, 2021, Fred Spencer passed away peacefully at the age of 92 while residing at the Valley Vista Seniors Complex. Fred is gone but his impact lives on through his many friends and family.

The Celebration of Life service was held from Springdale Pentecostal Church, on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Pastor L. R. Foster officiating. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wayne Spencer (Son), Brian Spencer (Brother), Tony Curtis (Grandson), Michael Spencer (Grandson), Tom Rose (Friend), Tony Young (Friend). Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Harry Oxford & Julia Budgell of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
