It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ronald Fred Budgell of Springdale, NL (formerly of Cottrell''s Cove, NL), age 90, announces his passing, on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Valley Vista Senior Citizens Home, Springdale, NL.

Fred was born to Theodore and Bessie Budgell of Cottrell''s Cove on March 13, 1925. In 1989, he married Leah Ryan and they enjoyed 26 happy years together. He was a loving and devoted husband. Fred and Leah spent several years together in Cottrell''s Cove and in later years moved to King''s Point.

He spent most of his life as a fisherman. Fred enjoyed the outdoors and spent most of his free time hunting and fishing. He also spent many summers camping with Leah. Fred loved to tell stories and was very enthusiastic. His stories brought many chuckles and enjoyment to all who heard them.

Fred always had a smile on his face and most times would be singing or humming a few lines from a hymn they had sung at church. He was a carpenter, boat builder, mechanic, logger, fisherman and a terrific navigator and for the most part of his life, his own housekeeper.

He is predeceased byhis wife Leah Austin-Ryan Budgell; parents Theodore and Bessie Budgell; brothers: Percy Budgell, Allan Budgell; sisters: Elizabeth Wall, Pearl Bailey, Dulcie Boone, Effie Carroll, Rowena Reid.

Fredleaves to mourn sons Rick (Patricia) Wiseman, Mark Rimmer (Laura McVeigh), Trevor (Diane) Haggett; daughter Shirley (Mont) Budgell; stepdaughters Alice (Ross) Saunders, Shirley (Wade) Janes, Judy (Ben) Prouse; stepsons Lawrence Ryan, Wade Ryan, Craig (June) Ryan; grandchildren Kandra Rae, Justin, Matt, Steven, Robin, Zander James, Harry (Bonnie), Geraldine (Jim), Gary, Delia (Keith), Debbie (Steven), Quentin (Donna), Quentina, Wanda-Lee, Chad, Stephen (Teraza), Melissa (Jeremy), Rachel-Ann (Corey), Ryan, Lucas, Cole, Toby (Tracy), great-grandchildren Logan, Geraldine, Melissa, Loretta, Bobby, Gary, Diane, Keith, Alyssa, Makayla, Ada, Quinn, Jayden, Gabriella, Loghan, Novaley, Soleil, Hunter, Madison and Melissa; sisters Florrie Norman, Gladys Budgell, Bernice Hall, Phyllis (Arthur) Keeping, Beatrice (Ray) Wells; brother Ted Budgell, as well as many other family members and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The Home Going service took place from Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor Murdock Pittman and Pastor Roy Hillier officiating. The interment took place at the Pentecostal Cemetry, Cottrell's Cove, NL. The pallbearers were son Rick Wiseman; stepson-in-law Wade Janes; nephews Henry Budgell, Roy Budgell, Hardy Boone, Sam Boone. The funeral arrangements were entrusted to Chris Morgan, Elaine M. Rideout, Bill Weeks, and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
