It is with saddened hearts that the family of the late Frank Garfield Huxter of South Brook NL, age 89 announces his passing on September 13, 2024 at Green Bay Health Centre. He will be forever remembered with love in the hearts of his family.
Frank leaves to remember with fond and loving memories; his wife of 66 years, Phyllis; his children Larry, Faron, Douglas, Lawrence, Glenda (Walter) Ryan, Francine (Glenn) Penney; grandchildren Owen, Justin, Amanda, Mark, Heather, Patrick, Jessica, Nikita, Nicole, Chloe, Morgan and many great-grandchildren. As well as a large circle of extended family and close friends, and special family friend, Doris Huxter.
Frank is predeceased by his grandson Michael Smith; parents Dorman and Gertie Huxter; brother Herbert; sisters Jennie Croucher and Mythle Croucher; step brothers Ray and Ed Wells.
Frank was born in Springdale on October 28, 1934 to Dorman Huxter and Gertie Locke. He was the husband of Phyllis Huxter, they shared a love like no other for 66 years. Together they raised six children, Larry, Glenda, Faron, Douglas, Lawrence and Francine.
Frank was a logger and bus driver for many years. He worked for Newfoundland Bay Logging and George Warr's Limited over the years.
For most of his life he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed snaring rabbits, berry picking and cutting firewood. He also enjoyed skidooing in the winter time with family and friends and spending time at the cabin. And in his younger years he volunteered with the town as a fire fighter for 17 years.
Frank was a kind, friendly, compassionate and loving man. He was adored and admired by many. His battle with medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life's challenges. He was a pillar of strength. His memory will live in our hearts forever.
The funeral service will be held from Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle South Brook, NL on Tuesday September 17, 2024 at 1pm with Pastor Kerry Northcotte officiating.
Interment will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery, South Brook, NL.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
