It is with great sadness that the family of the late Flossie Oxford (nee: Roberts) of Pilley''s Island, NL, age 81, announces her passing, on Monday, August 03, 2015 at the Palliative Care - Carmelite, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.
Flossie was born on July 28, 1934 to Delbert and Emily Roberts in Forteau, Labrador. In 1953 she married Frederick Cecil Oxford of Pilley''s Island. Together they had six children, whom she loved and cared for deeply.
She was a stay-at-home mom. Flossie was the most outstanding and lovable mom, who worked so hard to take care of her family.
Flossie is predeceased by parents Delbert and Emily Roberts; brother Ralph Roberts; sister Clarissa Davis.
She leaves to mourn husband Frederick Oxford; sons Bobby (Kim) Oxford, Tony (Sandy) Oxford, Delbert Oxford (Jack); daughters Linda Oxford (Ean), Cordella (Bill) Vincent, Sylvia Oxford (Peter); brothers Jack (Ethel) Roberts, Gord (Rose) Roberts; sisters Thelma Furey, Grace Hancock, Nellie Batstone, Jeanette Taylor, Jessie (Reginald) Roberts; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; as well as many other family members and friends. She will be missed tremendously by her family and all who knew her but never forgotten, leaving them with fond and loving memories.
The Celebration of Life service was held from the Salvation Army Citadel, Pilley''s Island, NL on Thursday, August 06, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Major Lindsay Oxford officiating. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Pilley''s Island, NL. Pallbearers were grandchildren Keith Vincent, Dennie Winsor, Erica Martin, Ashley Hunt, BJ Oxford, Joshua Oxford, Sarah Vincent, Geena Oxford, Thomas Dwyer
.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Gail Hancock, Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
Donations: Flowers will be gratefully accepted, as well as donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
