It is with saddened hearts that the family of the late Flossie Naomi Hewlett of Robert's Arm, NL, age 90, announces her passing on March 12, 2026 at the Valley Vista Seniors Home, Springdale NL.
Flossie leaves to remember with fond and loving memories; her children Tony (Kay) Hewlett, Juanita (Lloyd) Hamlyn, Jerdon (Lorraine) Hewlett, Enola (Tony) Linton, Jody Hewlett; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brother Norman (Barbara) Reid; step brother Mervin (Yvonne) Short; step sisters Joan (Ken) Lush, Marjorie Budden; daughter in law Peggy Hewlett; sisters in law Joan Reid, Elsie Reid, Bessie Reid, step sister in law Loretta Short.
Flossie is predeceased by her parents Edgar & Belinda Reid; step father Cecil Short; her husband Hubert; sons Roy Hewlett, Freeman Hewlett, Randy Hewlett; grandson Robbie-Leigh Hewlett; son in law Gradon Vincent; brothers Malcolm Reid, Moody Reid, Jerdon Reid, Clyde Reid, Joe Reid, Wesley Reid; step brother Eldron Short.
Flossie was born on December 24, 1935. A fourth child for the proud parents, Edgar and Belinda Reid. In 1953, Flossie met Hubert Hewlett of Port Anson, and later that year they were married in Miles Cove on July 16, 1953. Together they raised eight children.
One of the greatest joys in Flossie's life was raising her family, and then later on taking part in helping to raise her grandchildren. Everyone was always welcome to her home and you could always find fresh homemade treats, candy, and if you were really lucky maybe some leftovers. She loves a crowd.
Flossie was very gifted in many areas. She spent many hours sewing - in fact, she made a lot of her children's clothing as well as many quilts, blankets, wool socks, gloves and mitts. Everyone in the family never had to worry about where they were going to get their winter attire, as well as many people she knew in town.
One of the most important things to Flossie, was her faith. She loved the Lord and served Him well. Many times you would hear her singing hymns and reading scripture as she went about her day. Through all of the tragedy in her life, she held on to Jesus, her solid rock and foundation. We can only aspire, as a family, to follow in the footsteps that she has left for us.
The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses and staff at the Valley Vista seniors home for their compassion, professionalism and exceptional Care they provided for our mom.
