Obituary

1919-2013
It is with sadness that the family of the late Ethel Blanche Martin (Oxford), age 94, announces her passing on October 1, 2013. She was born April 29, 1919 in Port Anson to Reuben & Elizabeth (Fannie) Hewlett. She met and married Fredrick Oxford of Little Bay Islands in 1940. Together they had seven children (three sons andfour daughters). Missing her, are her sons, Donald (Marion), Malcolm (Karen), & Darrell (Jenny); daughters Joy Reid (Ron), Joan Moores (Wilburn), Thelma Burton (Harold) and Fannie (infant death); 15 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grand children; brother Calvin; sisters Joyce and Carmen. She was predeceased by her first husband in 1961. She later married Joseph Martin of Port Anson. Even as a child she loved to sing. Her love for the Lord was evident in her singing and throughout her life. The funeral service was on October 6,2013 from Word of Life Tabernacle, Robert''s Arm, NL., with Pastor Bill Harnum officiating, assisted by Pastor Paul Moores(grandson )and Pastor Ben Brown. Interment was at The Pentecostal Cemetery, Robert''s Arm. The pallbearers were grandsons: Paul & Jason Moores, Trent & Troy Burton, Dion Oxford and Todd Reid. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Gail, Harry and Judy of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.

God never promised a life without pain,
Laughter without tears or sun without rain.
But He did promise strength for the day,
Comfort for the tears and light for the way,
And all who believe in His Heaven above
He rewards their faith in His everlasting love.
