It is with sadness that the family of the late Elsie Jean Newman-Bennett (nee Young) announces her passing at the Valley Vista Retirement Home, Springdale, NL, aged 89 years.

Jean leaves to mourn her children, Wayne (Brenda) Newman, Bruce (Dina) Newman, Morris (Mary) Newman, Jessie (Gary) Woodworth, Alfreda (Morris) Penney, & Dianne (Brian) Webber; grandchildren Mark, Rachel, Deborah, Sonya, Natasha, Victoria, Susannah, Angie, Carla, Robyn, Anthony, Bradley, Nathan, & Vagan; great-grandchildren, Logan, Brady, Micah, Ezra, Rebekah, Brody, Madison, Gabriel, Autumn, Alex, Christopher, Natalie, Aubrey, Brady, Antonio, Brianna, Jacob, Octavia, Oaklynn, Daxten, Colby, Mackenzie, Weston & Wrenley; great-great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Isaac, & Talia; sisters Betty (Jim) Rideout, Donna (Calvin) Foss, Margaret (Frank) LeShane, Joy Young, Winona (Dawson) Winsor, Ada Young; brothers Calvin (Marie) Young,  Peter (Sandra) Young; sisters-in-law Pat Young, Myra Young, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Jean is predeceased by her first husband, Melven Newman, second husband, Freeman Bennett; parents, Pastors Claude and Annie Young; son, Baxter Newman; daughters-in-law, Marion Newman, & Theresa Newman; grandson , Steven Newman, brother Bob, Kevin; sister Bernice; brother-in-law Carl.

There will be a FAMILY ONLY visitation Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and a PUBLIC visitation from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Green Bay Funeral Home, 145 Cpl. S. Bouzane Blvd., Springdale, NL.

The funeral service will take place Sunday, August 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Pentecostal Church, South Brook, NL with Pastor Kerry Northcotte officiating.

The interment will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery, South Brook, NL.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Green Bay Funeral Home, 145 Cpl. S. Bouzane Blvd., Springdale, NL.
